Re: Wynn restructures
What better option do we have right now?? He's not starter material anymore but in a rotation he's a quality veteran backup.

Re: Wynn restructures
So Im assuming this move means we're going after someone after June 1 cuts, or are we just freeing up space for rookie signings?

Re: Wynn restructures
The defensive line in Williams' scheme often isn't used to pressure the QB. Their job is to eat up blocks and work vs the run. That keeps our linebackers and safeties free to make plays, rush the QB, and play the run. Our defensive line 'needs' have been over inflated on this site. Williams puts his corners on islands and uses everyone else on the field to create pressure.

Re: Wynn restructures
About having a plan: the plan is pick up the pieces. There wasn't a good enough DLman at 6, and no good trade down offer. So they pick up AA's replacement (obviously a position that Williams thinks is crucial to his style of D), resign Wynn for a paycut (the only way he stays around, even with his vaunted leadership skills), and then we see what there is in the late rounds and in late FA. And then we make do. I see no other options for even the most gifted of GMs here on the warpath, given that we've traded away all our picks this year, and blown it with AA and LLoyd (verdict is still out on ARE, Rocky, and JC, though I remain optimistic).
When you've handcuffed yourself, there's not a lot you can do. But now that we're here, resigning Wynn with a paycut is fine. But it obviously is only a thin and used bandaid for our D line troubles...

Re: Wynn restructures
"Hey, we need help at DE." "I think the DL will be just fine." What? Sigh... make up your mind Joe.
It is so obvious what our most glaring need is, and we just flat out ignore it. I'm sure you'll hear other FO types around the league, under condition of anonymity, ripping us yet again. What are we thinking?? I'm optimistic about every position on our team except this stupid DL.

Re: Wynn restructures
Didn't this save us more money than if we had just out right cut Wynn?

Re: Wynn restructures
I guess we going to keep him around for a little longer which is great. But why the hell did we say we were going to address the D-line via draft. There is no need to mislead ppl for Day 2 picks, they are not exactly in demand.

Re: Wynn restructures
I love the guy but Gibbs is a liar when it comes to the press. I'm always reminded of a quote between him and Patrick Ramsey when he said something to the effect of "Patrick you and I are going to be together for a long time."

Re: Wynn restructures
can someone please answer why he did this. He lost ALOT of money by doing this. If he got cut he would have gotten almost 2 mil more than accepting the contract restructuring he did. Im thinking there is more to the contract that we dont know about, like with the Brunell contract restructuring how his old contract was still sort of in place.
