Its not a pick that will have an impact any time soon. Without a D line and a pass rush the D backs cant really be evaluated.

I feel sorry for guys like P-lo who are trying to re-hab and get back on the field and earn a spot on the team. This has to smack him in the face. And our man ST, will this mean that he will replaced by LL? Because, you know it's typical for us to draft the one good player, have him play on our team for couple of years, and not resign him to only have him go to another team to be a stud.
he is gonna be on the field with ST. ST isnt gonna get benched lol. wtf are you talking about man...

I'll tell you "wtf" I'm talking about. In a year or two when ST's contract is up, he will be gone and our "awesome" safeties will be broken up.

I can't believe some of the pesimism that I am reading on these forums about this pick - Landry was the best defensive player in THE ENTIRE DRAFT, we got him at #6!
All this talk about we need D-Line - does anyone remember our DBs getting gashed for some silly number of plays of 20 yards or more!
We had 6 (SIX), yes I'll say it again S I X interceptions!
With the pick of Landry we upgrade immensely, you could take everyone who played his position for us last season, add them together and you still wouldn't have half the player Landry is!
With a better, deeper set of DBs (Smoot, Landry, Macklin) along with Rogers and Springs hopefully back to health it can only HELP our D-Line (its called a coverage sack), if the wrs and tes are covered it gives our DEs more time to get to the QB!
DL was not the be all and end all of this draft, we took the most talented player available and we will reap the dividends of this pick for years to come - our DL will look so much better just from the DBs not being toast!

From what I gather Nemo holds jersey #30 right now, I just hope he allows LaRon to have the jersey (in return for a little compensation).

Ok then we will get a new one from the draft. As of now I can promise you Taylor is not gonna lose his starting position. Hell hopefully they resign him too after his contract is up, but that is a bit of an unreasonable fear.

Hopefully ST and Landry can play well together, that will be the big question.

Good point about the coverage sack.

Re: It's LaRon Landry!

Although my preference with Okoye, I'm happy with Landry. GW knows he needs stability back there, and although LL is known for being a ball-hawk, I believe he'll learn how to improve his positioning (by watching more film that taylor). Looking long-term, if we can't re-sign Swoop, having Landry back there will be important.

If the duo can stay together, the middle is going to turn into an alligator hunt.

Yeah, that's so typical. Give some examples.

At no. 6, this was the right choice. No one, not even the vaunted Okoye was as good a choice at #6. Now, would we have better off trading down and getting more players. Yeah probably, but as someone (I believe Offiss) pointed out, it takes more than one team to complete a trade. And with a deep draft on D, like this year's, it's not as easy to make a trade.

When opposing teams dare to throw, you will see impact!

I voted on the fence because there is no way knowing which is true for all draft picks. You just don't know. I will say that watching the films of him on this site he looks alot like ST.

It's also worth noting that Landry played against more talented teams in the SEC more regularly than Okoye did within the Big East.

Re: It's LaRon Landry!

I liked the fact that they said his tackles dropped his senior season because opposing offensive coords stayed away from him. To me it says a lot more than the fact that he hits hard.

Barring any injury, people will love this pick soon.
