I must say one thing, at least you're consistent in your "unique" views around here.
Alright, why don't you make one and we can go back and see who is more right at the end of the year? Just a friendly gentlemen's bet.

BTW, anyone who wants in on this can. It'd be fun to make a competition out of this.

I think people will be quite surprised. (well, either that or I will) Problem is that everyone will use last year as a baseline for their picks. That will give me a big advantage.

Does different/unique always mean wrong with you?

Time to see for myself. I want to see the changes you would make to King's list. I'm basically calling you out on this one.

I didn't say wrong, just unique.

How are we going to judge this? Will it be based on passer rating?

You did put it in quotes though...

My beef with passer rating as a stat is well documented, but I think in this case it represents a solid middle ground between the stats that I use, and something completely unhelpful like passing yards or something. I'd be cool with passer rating.

Re: Peter King Expects Jason Campbell to be 26th Most Productive 2007 QB

This is pretty damn funny. It's from the blog FireJoeMorgan.com

Quote:
King's new column contains the ranking of 32 NFL QBs. What formula does he use to measure these QBs, you might ask?

As for how I arrived at my picks, other than with a divining rod, I used a few measuring sticks. I value wins from my quarterback, which helped Manning and Brady, the leaders in victories over the last two years.

Fair.

I value postseason success; their seven combined wins over the past two years is significant.
Sure. I mean, it's more significant than wins by a pitcher.

Completion percentage and yards-per-attempt are the two passing stats I value the most because they tell you how often a quarterback succeeds in efficiently moving the chains through the air.

This seems good. I might toss in that weird QB Rating thing even though it is impenetrably dense and weird, but COMP% and YPA seems decent. What else?

Finally, intangibles.

Intangibles. You made a statistic...out of intangibles. You turned "intangibles" into a tangible.

Brady led all passers with a 10 on a 10-point scale, because he's a coach, an offseason facilitator, a free-agent recruiter -- and he does it while retaining respect from the guys he often has to lean on hard.

And that is worth: 10 intangi-points.
The stuff in bold print is actually from PK himself. You can read the whole thing on that link I posted at the top.

I was going to blog this article on my own, but FJM beat me to it. Crazy bastards!

I guess since I totally ripped by blog style from them, they can have this one.

Buster expects Peter King to come in 1st in the voting for the "just shut up award" in 2007.

Wait, wait, so are you saying that you know more about all these guys than the rest of us?

Ranking QB's 1 -32 is absurd, to me. I've always been a fan of the tiered approach.

I agree with this. Even so, QBs can be tiered and ranked 1-32.

It's hard to show how strongly you feel about a certain player if he's lumped in with a bunch of other players at the same tier though.

I have no more access to any information about these guys than anyone else.

I'm saying that people tend to use the previous season as the baseline for all projections, despite piles of evidence that says 16 games one year will produce very different results from 16 games the next year. I believe by looking at career path projections and career production, I can see the wider picture and project for the current season accordingly.

Even still, that doesn't make me anymore right than anyone else.

None of this means anything at all. It's the off season and the ass clown PK needs to justify a paycheck.
