Nelms was such a vicious hitter on special teams that the redskins used him on goal line Defense as a safety. He would hit so hard that the coaches took him off defense after he injured his shoulder. But while he played on D he was a feared player a la Sean Taylor.

Nelms was a cross between B.Mitch and Ade Jimoh.
