Re: Brooks Works Out For The Skins?!

I'd cut Brunell and Collins for Brooks. Brooks is younger and more atheletic. He gives uss experience and quite a bit more talent from the back-up QB slot. Then give the third string to Palmer. Lets face it...Brunell is completed finished and we are paying Collins way to much. We can probably get Brooks pretty cheaply. What do you guys think?

I think you are insane if you think that Aaron Brooks is better than Mark Brunell.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Brunell taking the field this year means certain disaster. We'll face eight guys up front even on passing downs. News flash: he can't throw anymore.

Let us not forget that Mark Brunell in his Career has made it to AFC Championship game, lets not forget that MB has been a Pro Bowl quarterback. Thats what I call a veteran back-up, someone who use to be great but with age became average. But as he became average he became wise. MB is a good QB if he's healthy. The problem is his body is too old to endure an entire season. Last year his best games were early in the season then he got banged up and it got ugly. 2yrs ago his deep ball looked great early (Cowboys MNF) by week 10 on it got really ugly. Not to mention he took us to the playoffs, got a victory and Santana Moss had a breakout season that year so Mark was doing something right. If he is forced to come in for 3 games he'll be nice and fresh and get the job done. Long story short that sounds like the type of guy we all should want JC to learn from. Good guy on and off the field, kind of reminds me of Gibbs. Maybe I'm ignorant can someone educate me on a wikipedia update of Aaron Brooks??

You have a point. Brunell might be capable of wo or three games.

No way.
Here are Brooks stats:
Aaron Brooks statistics - pro-football-reference.com
Keep in mind, he's never been a winner.
In his last 3 seasons, he has averaged a meezly comp. % of only around 56.5%.
Over that same span (37 games) he has:
37 td's
41 ints.
His numbers were inflated in NO because they had nothing else, he was exposed as a Raider. I'd take Brunell over Brooks any day of the week.

ps- there's a reason Brooks was never an all pro.

He's also one of the worst QBs ever to play.

But if you really needed a real life demonstration of just how far Brunell is from the really really bad QBs, this would be it.

Have you ever seen the guy play? He's a turnover machine. In the seasons he played a full year, he had close to 20 interceptions and fumbled a dozen times.

I hope we stay far away from this guy, even as a 3rd-stringer.

Couldn't agree more about Brooks but Palmer and Casey ought to compete for 3rd.
