I think he would have been in much less trouble had he chosen not to do victory burnouts and celebrate as if he had just won the race. Knowing NASCAR, I'm sure they saw that as him trying to show them up. If they really wanted to punish him they would have suspended him from next week's races at Watkins Glen since that's a road course and Robby Gordon should be one of the favorites there.
