Re: Chris Cooley signs contract extension!!
Cooley is the new face of the Washington Redskins and very popular in the locker room. His work ethic and skills have amazed me to be honest.
When Gibbs moved up in the draft to get him I'm sure nobody knew what the hell they were doing. Guess Gibbs knows his stuff afterall. To think, Cooley was oh so close to becoming a hated Cowboy. The "tuna" had his eyes on him and wanted him badly. Think that Cooley was in a much better place to command contract before season unlike Sean Taylor who still has more work to do........ GREAT NEWS! |

Parcells actually told Cooley that he didn't feel he could play in the NFL. Per Cooley himself via an interview on Extremeskins: Quote:

Didn't the draft order that year have Dallas as a possibility? Parcells has been known to play head games with players to gain the most out of them. If they cannot take the heat he gets rid of them. He's like that father who's never happy with anything...... So he tells Cooley he's not good enough to be a pro player and drafts him. Already has the player with a chip on his should and ready to prove them wrong. Heard an interveiw after Cooley torched Dallas for 3 TD's or something like that.....maybe its after the fact....... |

Re: Chris Cooley signs contract extension!!
It's hard to believe that anyone could look at Cooley and not be impressed. His ability to catch the ball alone makes him a standout. He has unbelievable hands. And he runs after the catch like John Riggins. If Parcells told him he couldn't play, he was way out to lunch. Parcells is, I think, a better judge of defensive talent. Defensive coaches can rely on the stopwatch too much. Cooley's 40 time is probably not that elite.
I know that after the fact, Parcells became a Cooley believer. He had very nice things to say about him before the game here last year. He basically said, "we would be a lot better if we had a guy who could do what he does." Of course you can't really say bad things about a guy when he scores three TDs on you in a game the year before.
