Oh yeah I missed one. What the hell was up with us getting that B.S false start on the exact same motion play that we drew the other team offsides in the preseason. That exact same shift was not a penalty in the pre-season so why is it a penalty now?

I think it is safe to say that this play will not be used again this year. Great design though.

Now we need Lloyd to have a game like that when they take everyone away.

Yeah really,How many times have you heard of the refs having to correct themselves on which team the penalty is on.Maybe they will get the wrong number sometimes but not the wrong team.Oh well,I guess its the refs first game too.Lets hope we can get a better crew for monday night.

Yeah. I always try to avoid sounding like a dumbass and accusing the refs of intentionally making bad calls, but I swear it seems like the Redskins get the brunt of shitty calls every season(Rogers interference???). I'm glad Coach Gibbs goes over the calls every week, and calls out the officiating committee on the bad ones.

They made the call, which in itself made little sense, and I said aloud to everyone around. "That f*cking John Riggins keeps jumping out of the booth and f*cking us every year." Dumb ass refs. The funny thing was watching them call the penalty on us then watching everyone reset to punt over and watching the one ref who threw the flag about 60 yards downfield looking around like "WTF?". Then he sprints up field and blows the whistle and waves his rams like an idiot. Classic.

I don't know, it did look like Sellers went in motion before the TE stopped.

We were discussing this in the "ugly thread" if you're interested.

I would just explain for Deirdorf's sake if for no one else's that there is a difference between a shift and a motion. With formation shifts you can move multiple players but they have to reset before the snap and there are other protocols that have to be followed. Motion has to be one person and they can be moving at the snap of the ball but not towards the line of scrimmage. Etc. Etc. The refs are supposed to know this stuff by heart, yet they made a crappy explanation. Just say "illegal shift". And don't take 45 minutes to do it either. That just leads me to believe they didn't know what happened. Somebody throws a flag then they all get together and look at each other like they have no idea what's going on.

Because Sellers went in motion in the backfield at the same time. He tried to play it off, but you can't have two guys in motion like that once everyones set.

I believe that it is only considered motion if you are still moving when the ball is snapped. The ball hadnt been snapped yet when the d jumped offsides so it is considered a shift.I know that you can shift more than one player at a time because the Skins do it all the time.Like I said before, that exact same play was not a penalty in the pre-season.The refs huddled up and called the penalty on the D in the pre-season.
