I saw it mentioned in a Washington Post article but that was it. Starting Smoot over Springs if Springs isn't injured makes as much sense as starting Prielou over Taylor, or grabbing some practice squad dude and having him take over for Fletcher. The whole thing is incomprehensible to me.
