While I think Dallas is good, I still want to see them play a decent team. I don't see anyone in their upcoming schedule besides the Pats, and even that won't be a good gauge of how good they are.

But the problem is if they're playing all these supposedly crappy teams they have a good chance to end up with a great record and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
As Giggity pointed out, they could conceivably start the season out by going 6-1 or even 7-0 before their bye week. If the NFC is really filled with so many crap teams then starting out in that fashion will surely put them at the top of the conference.
Granted, just because they start out hot it doesn't mean that they'll end the season on the same kind of tear, but I just don't get how you can discount 4 straight beat downs. Are you going to tell me the Pats aren't really that good because so far they've only beat the Jets, Chargers (the Norv-version), and the Bills?
What's more important: Who they beat or How they beat them? I'd have to say it's how they beat them.

(obviously the injury bug can strike and a team can quickly crash back to Earth, rendering all this moot)

I don't know. If the COWBOYS had played that schedule I'd feel a lot more certain how for-real they are. I would have loved to have seen them versus the Jets and Chargers.
