Re: Redskins vs. Packers predictions

You can beat the Redskins D by running right between the tackles, but teams have yet to figure this out yet. Unless Green Bay does this week, it should be another victory for us.

Re: Redskins vs. Packers predictions

that was part of our strategy last week. I saw that too. For those of you Madden fanatics. thats L2, and then up on the d pad. I am particularly worried about what the draw could do to that scheme. We were relying on the coverage to collapse on the runner when they ran(seldom). That takes time to get there. Giving up 5-7 yds a running play is not my idea of fun.

Well, I don't know about Donkey talk, but I see your point. We would adjust if need be to stop that. We didn't stop it vs the Lions cause we didn't need to. Just like we gave them all the 5 yard screens and out patterns they wanted and stopped them. We gave them the middle, and if we need to stop the middle then GW will come up with something to stop it.

Yeah, we did give up a few screen plays to the Lions, but I don't see that being an issue this week. Hopefully GW has something up his sleeve.

I don't see this being an issue even if they do give up a few screen plays. I'd take a few screen plays any day- allowing that the other team score only 3 points. This time last week, I don't think the most optimistic prediction had the lions only scoring that little.

The game plan for the lions was perfect. I just hope that the game plan against packers is just as good. And there's no reason that it shouldn't.

I think this will be a tough game, The Packers have the Lambeau advantage. The key will be to contain Favre in the pocket and not let him get out and run around where he's most dangerous. A spy will have to be assigned to shadow him. I think the Skins prevail after "packing some fudge" oops meant cheese!!

I wouldn't call getting hit hard by Fletcher, McIntosh, Landry, or Taylor - giving up the middle. Don't underestimate how a hard-hitting player can change a strategy. The offensive play-caller won't subject their running backs and wide receivers to punishment all day in the middle.

That's pretty funny. It's true though, he seems to enjoy using that word

Although the Eagles, Giants, and Lions ran the ball well between the tackles, I'm not so sure that teams can beat us by running there. In those three games we were definately playing the pass. Against the Dolphins, we stuffed the run pretty damn well. I think that our run defense will stiffen the next time we face a run-first offense.

well put, though this D is definitely not impenetrable. If a team were to stick w/the run I think we'd have to commit Landry in the box a lot. I thought the giants didn't run enough, but turns out they didn't need to. They were having success w/it.

The Lions ran up the middle well because we gave them that. Our defense was solely designed to disrupt the pass - it's why Golston (our best run stopper) was inactive. The running plays Detroit had success with were draw - they ran 7 in the first eight plays of the second half (IIRC). Maybe Green Bay will try the same thing, but I don't see Favre giving the game over to the backs he's got - he'll want to heave it around.

Statistically, the Packers pass 68% of the time, by far the league's highest. That's despite being either tied or in the lead for 79% of the time this year. That's just a crazy stat - they've only trailed for about 64 minutes out of 300, but they throw the ball more than anyone. For some reason, that feels like a stat that will bite you in the ass eventually. Hopefully, it's this week.
