This has got to be a joke. No way they trade Chad Johnson and if they do it'll be for at least 2 first round picks not for some scrubs.

WHAT! 2 first round picks, who is this Ocho Cinco you speak of? He is a good player, no doubt, but no reciever would be traded for 2 first round picks.

that was a no. of years ago though & since then the market for trades has really changed. Teams show a lot more value for draft picks than vets.

I think it's just a result of teams learning how to work w/in the cap & free agency as the system's gotten older.

Also, in the cap era there are really only 2 main reasons to trade a guy:
1) he's at the end of his deal & you don't plan to re-sign him
2) he's a problem

Of course you can always say you want picks to get younger, etc. but even then the cap hit has to make sense since trades escalate bonus $.

What did you guys pay for Joey Galloway a few years back? And that's Joey Galloway! Chad Johnson is worth 2 first round picks that or at least a quality player and a first round pick.

Sorry, I meant to say "no receiver SHOULD be traded for 2 first round picks". Galloway was a great receiver and he is still good, Dallas could not get a hold of a good QB.

I agree no one will pony up two first rounders for Chad. Moss went for the #7 pick and Nap Harris when he went from Minnesota to Oakland (NE stole him this past year) and Javon Walker went for a #2. I don't think Chad is going anywhere, especially since he is not lobbying to get out of the Queen City. Those other guys all wanted out. Probably would take a high #2 to get him, but the way the Skins trade it'd probably be Sean Taylor and a first round pick [bitter sarcasm obviously].

P.S.

Remember the good old days when we got two first for Sean Gilbert?

Yep, these days, GMs and team presidents know very well the value of draft picks. I think it has to do with the quality of the players coming out of college. I mean look at next years draft and how many good RBs it will have. WRs these days don't have to be great, good one are fine with all the new rules that won't allow DBs to get near them till they get the ball.

didnt they get rid of the best WR in the NFL now, for a 4th round pick...(Raiders) no way it cost 2 first rounders.......please, when the organization and coach say the consider, its the best offer.......not what they want, but the best they can get...

So you're saying if the best they can get is a 6th rounder they would take it? No. They wouldn't.

Also, Moss was largely considered to be past his prime, plus a malcontent, and a lot of his success was credited to working with Culpepper and Carter. Obviously that's not the case, but perception is everything.

is that what i said.....read, I said they will take the best offer, which mean, no they want give him away, but if someone offers up a 2nd or 3rd with another player or a 2nd and 3rd, then yea.........maybe a low 1st, but not 2 1st rounders......thats what i said!!!!!!

I know what you meant, but your post didn't reflect it. I know that you know they won't give him away.

You obviously don't think any team would give up 2 first rounders for him, and neither do I. However, stranger things have happened. Keep in mind that both 1st rounders would not likely be in the same year. One would be next draft, and the other would be the draft after that. Generally, a pick in next years draft is worth the same as a pick one round lower in this years draft. So, a 1st next year is worth a 2nd this year. If you think about it that way, you might say it would only be a 1st and 2nd -- not two firsts. But, you'd probably just be kidding yourself.

I also heard about Ocho Cinco being dealt away, I think it was on either Rotoworld.com or Profootballtalk.com

Chad Johnson : Rotoworld.com - Chad Johnson Biography from Rotoworld.com

read the days of 10/23 and 10/22

Re: Trading #85

Gibbs likely wouldn't want him, especially w/a young qb just starting to come into his own.

I bet JJ makes a play for him on the Cowpokes. They will look at it as the "final piece."
