This team might be just one good draft away from competing for the Super Bowl. Let's go with stability for just one more year and see what happens.

Yeah one more year, then what? What if '08 is a shitty season and then Cowher goes somewhere else in the meantime. You really want to get stuck with GW? Pete Carroll maybe? Gibbs is gone after '08 anyway and the movement you speak of is going to happen regardless. See how Coach handles the rest of the season. If it is a total collapse he needs to step down.

How did Bill Cowher suddenly became the answer to everything?

Yeah, how many seasons did it take for Cowher to win a SB?

He is not the answer, but shit Gibbs isn't, and who is going to take over when Gibbs is gone regardless of if he steps down or stays for the full term? Nobody decent is coming out of the college ranks(maybe Carroll of USC). The best coaches in the NCAA know they have it nice and cushy if they are proven winner already. Any decent assistants out there capable of being a HC? Shoot we got two of the top assistants here already. We need a younger guy that still has fire in the belly still and is a proven winner in the FA era. I mean WTF!!!!! Are you going to keep hiding behind injuries to defend Gibbs as god still? I mean come on, enough is enough. Cowher is the best candidate right now, and if Gibbs stays then Cowher might land somewhere else. This is more than just Gibbs. it is about post Gibbs. Post Gibbs II might look as bleak as post Gibbs I unless we get a true proven winner. Sorry guys, there isn't much out there in the vet coaching pool but Cowher. You want to try GW as HC? Saunders? I don't think so

First of all, you guys don't have enough patience to wait for Bill Cowher to give us a Super Bowl title. Secondly, Pete Carroll has already tried his hand at the NFL. He was left with a Super Bowl team in NE (thanks to Parcells) and brought the team down to being an 8-8 team. No thanks.

I would just like the playoffs to be honest. The SB would be nice, but to be able to win the division and make the playoffs yearly would be great. At least we would be a winner. I don't want Carroll either, I was making the point as to why we should go for Cowher. And Skins, you better think about post Gibbs, because it is going to happen soon.

There's no guarantee that Cowher is going to be any better than Gibbs in this division though. There definitely is no guarantee that we'd win the division on a regular basis. Gibbs is good enough to at least get this team to the playoffs, but I honestly believe you guys would not be just happy with that. If that was the case, we would've just kept Marty.

Bottom line some guys just won't ever be happy.

Part of me hopes Gibbs does leave and gives a big FU to the fans as he leaves. Yes, there are plenty of reasons to lay blame at his feet. Even he says ultimately the responsibility is on him. But it's unbelievable how he can get the blame for every mistake, but never the credit for success. Not this go around at least. When our running game, for example, is successful it's all about how great Portis is (and he is). But when it stalls, suddenly it's "Grandpa Gibbs and his conservative playcalling is killing us"

I think that's just kind of the nature of Skins fans. We've gotten so used to coach bashing since he left after the 91 SuperBowl. Gibbs set the bar awfully high for himself. The expectations were so massive when he came back. I know the day they announced his return I was screaming like an idiot and running laps around my living room. He made the playoffs in what, 10 out of his first 11 seasons here? Was it so crazy to think we'd be a contender after a season or two? He's brought stability back to the organization. No question. Unfortunately the wins haven't come with it.

With stability comes the wins, but it's not an overnight success. Gibbs is trying to undo the losers mentality of this team that has hung around ever since he left the first time. I honestly don't see how he could do that within five years let alone three or four. But like SS said, this season is far from over, and if this team makes it to the post season this year, then it moves up closer to turning the corner next year. I mean, I can only imagine having a young QB who has playoff experience with a team that was riddled with injuries. There are a lot of positives to this team. Unfortunately for us, it has been the little things that have kept us from turning the corner earlier.

If we were getting blown out in ever loss we have had since Gibbs has come back, then I'd be worried, but that isn't the case. There is a fine line between being a top team and being a losing team. I believe you make a coaching change now, and you remove all doubt that this team's stablity will be gone, and everything we have worked up to at this point will be scraped.

I don't think for one second Gibbs should leave now. But how long is the leash? We have almost all of the same problems we had in his first season, and it's not getting much better. I think pending the end result of this season, you have to consider other options.

If we make it to the post season? are you being serious? we just lost at home to the Eagles, who are horrible by the way. Were not going to the playoffs and if we do were losing in the first round. Until Gregg Williams pulls his head out of his ass and stops this rediculous zone defense, this team will continue to get burned.

Five years? It didn't take that long for Gibbs to turn it around in his first stint, and the Skins were down in the dumps then too. There are just way too many uncharacteristic issues this team has with Joe Gibbs leading them.

I agree that Gibbs shouldn't step down quite yet. Only problem is, does he agree with us?

AMEN brother!!! How many AFC Championships did Cowher lose AT HOME? At least two that I can recall. Gibbs lost ONLY ONE postseason game at home in his entire career. I really don't see Cowher as the answer to advance us further. Before he won his Super Bowl and got out, I considered Cowher just another Schottenheimer.
