Re: Eagles Fans Should Be Ashamed

I sat directly in front of a group of Eagles fans yesterday and frankly, I was ashamed to be a Redskins fan. They were a quiet bunch and cheered for their team the way fans should. They didn't curse at anyone and tried to stay out of trouble. Despite their efforts, they were cursed at, had beer poured on them, and were harrassed the entire game. Of course that is natural when you come to enemy turf, but when the Skins' fans started leaving with 2 minutes left and within one score of tying the game, it proved that Skins' fans have no heart while Eagles' fans stuck it out the entire game. Why do Skins' fans leave early like that? Do we really care more about getting home than cheering our team on and possibly seeing overtime? I'm ashamed.

I stayed until the game was over.

The Eagles fans are still the most classless fans in the NFL.

Danny Boy has himself one of the least accessible stadiums in pro-sports. Way out in the sticks, no metro access, shitty parking, and MISERABLE pre and post game traffic. After yet another pathetic second half collapse, I don't know that I would have stayed unitl the clock hit 0:00 yesterday had I been there. And that's saying a lot b/c I'm not one to ever leave games early. That's the second time we've let a division rival embarass us like that in our house in the second half.

As far as the respectful Eagles fans in front of you, I'm glad to hear there are a few out there. Clearly an aberration though. The vast majority of their fans are championship-starved, mouthy, agressive a-holes.

Out in the sticks! Whats wrong with the parking? I get to the games around 10:30 and drive right in everytime without a wait so thats not an issue. Anytime you have 90,000 people leaving a venue all at once there are trafic issues. Land in that area is not that easy to find so I'm not sure how much of a choice they had in its location. So come early and tailgate after the game and trafic dies down pretty quick.

Every time I go to a Skins game I always tailgate afterwards to avoid traffic. But I've been to several different NFL stadiums, and FedEx is easily the worst as far as accessibilty and post game traffic. Also, if you're going to 1 o'clock games and arriving almost 3 hours early as you say, then of course you're going to drive right in. Maybe the parking isn't awful, but I've had a few bad experiences.

They also lost allot good parking just across the interstate where that sport complex was which now is comercial buildings. It had easy access a cash lot and within walking distance. I guess I've just become use to the trafic problems which is allways a problem even when ther is not a game.

Remember, Danny Boy inherited the stadium and it was Jack Kent Cooke who moved the team's field to MD (had to do with some issue with DC Mayor Sharon Kelly). Still Danny Boy could make the parking/departing process a whole lot less painful.

AMEN to that, 2/3rds of the satdium emptied out when there was 2:16 left on the clock and we had the ball in a one possession game . . . i was down right embarrassed to be associated with people like that . .

eagles fans didnt seem to obnoxious, there was 3 eagles fans sitting a few rows behind me and one was jawwing it up with a skins fan, eagles fan started to do the "after the game im gonna ..." stuff, i made eye contact with the skins fan's girl and she seemed scared so i turned around and said to this 20 something year old long haired eagles fan "yo an 80's metal band called and they want their hairstyle back!" . . . i thought it was funny and helped deflate some of the animosity that was building up and to let the skins fan's girl know that it wasnt going to be a 3 on1 if it came down to blows . . .

go skins!
