Jsarno, I disagree. You can't compare or rank tragedies, but obviously a player being murdered in his own home on a Sunday night is going to strike a chord across the league. It is not about popularity at all, would love to know how you came to find out that "even the casual fan knew Sean Taylor." I guess you mean after his passing.

Don't know about that -- Marquise Hill lost his life while rescuing a drowning friend. That strikes a chord, too.

The hatred and jealousy that some of you have for the Patriots is staggering. I only wish our franchise were run with as much competence, preparation, skill, imagination, and long-term planning.

Not that it matters, but he didn't die "rescuing a drowning friend." He died because he was jet skiing without a life jacket. And the "friend" if I remember correctly, was a woman that was not his wife/fiancee.
