Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Jansen is a slightly above average RT who is probably on the downside of his career. But he's the best option we have so he should be the starter. But Heyer should be groomed to take over in two or three years. I would get rid of Wade all together. He gets hurt walking from the huddle to the line of scrimmage.

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Jon Jansen was getting beat like a redheaded stepchild in preseason and the season before he got hurt. Hate to say it, but had he been the only injury along the O-line I feel like it improved our line more than hurt it.
Jansen had been great for us in the past, but injuries have caught up to him.

Plus Jansen is still a very strong run blocker.

Heyer seems more adept at pass blocking than run. He's got to get stronger to be a starter all year. I see Jansen as the starter, but we all agree that the team needs some youth on the o line & if a young stud can take his spot so be it. I actually thought Jansen would've made a better LG prospect than Wade, and maybe he could still make the switch as I think he's a pretty good pull/sweep blocker. If Jansen is healthy & is not our starter in week 1 of 08, I'd say our depth is looking up. |

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
If Jansen is healthy then he needs to be the guy. I think he should be able to give us a few more productive seasons. He might not be the best in the league. But I would feel a lot better about the Giants game this weekend if he were playing.

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Jansen is only 31, he'll be 32 next season which is still pretty young for an OL. He could play another 4-6 years, OL usually last long and he'll come back strong. Nothing to worry about, what we need are backup G/C combination type players another T wouldn't hurt. Heyer will be a solid backup next year.

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Wow, I mean Jansen is no all-pro like some folks in here think but I can't believe some of you guys want to push him to the back of the line. Are you kidding me? He'll turn 32 next season and he'll have at least two more good years left in him. If he is healthy he would be my starter.

There is no right tackle on the team better than Jansen, so he has to start. I think he needs to start doing some Ray Brown yoga to avoid these injuries.

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Unless they draft someone or aquire someone out of FA I feel with the current roster he will start. Heyer is great he stepped in and help us this season but he isn't a starter just yet.

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Yea, its not like Jansen is falling apart via tears, pulls, etc. He had a ankle broken in half, his thumbs broken in half. He needs to be in there next year w/out question.
Besides who's a better alternative? I'll take my chances w/ Jansen, a true redskin. |

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Jansen starts. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll break his thumbs again next year. Everyone said he played great when those damn clubs on his hands.

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
If Jansen is healthy, then he's starting no doubt. IMO he's our second best run blocker behind RT. I think we should just hold on to Heyer and groom him slowly.

Re: Jon Jansen: Starter Next Year?
Jansen isn't a top 5 RT but he is in the top 15. He is a great run blocker and w/o lefty MB starting that is more important than his pass blocking skills(which are better than average).
