Re: Training Camp '08:Open Competition between Collins and Campbell?

Did you read in the wash post article where one unidentified nfl source said in reference to Gibbs' contract; "Joe is a negotiator."

I think that says it all, even though that's in reference to Gibbs' contract & not TC's. Gibbs is setting things up to negotiate w/Collins to re-sign. There are degrees to which a camp competition can be done too. Even if you name a starter that doesn't mean that if he plays horribly all preseason that he's going to be the starter come day 1. I think that's how Gibbs will deal w/JC, tell him it's his job to lose essentially.

I just hope the one quote from a vet player doesn't represent a majority of players' feelings about it. Still it's a long time between now & camp so there is plenty of opportunity for it to be worked out. Again, I have faith in Gibbs to do so.
