Re: Who is Next?

I really won't mind if its Cowher (who I want), Greg Williams, or Al Saunders. I just DON'T want a college coach no matter what or who it is.

A college coach would be no goodto our football team. I think GW could be great.

JoeRedskin: In comparison -- it is youth. I guess 'youth' isn't necessarily what I want but someone with lots of fire and drive -- something I felt Joe was missing. I think Williams has that, and I think Williams has certainly earned his shot.

Re: Who is Next?

I'd like to see Williams get the chance to take over for the sake of keeping some continuity going, and Blache stay on as DC. GW has earned a 2nd chance.

Re: Who is Next?

We sure as HELL do not need a complete new staff/system to "start all over" with! I am sure they will announce the new config.....quick. I imagine Joe has helped, and is helping to define the new org.

Re: Who is Next?

With GW as head coach, and knowing nothing about Offense -dont you think Saunders will be calling the shots on O-with that being said JC will most likely not be the starter coming out of training camp because obviously he is more comfortable with Collins. I dont agree with that decision, I would love to see JC lead this team. Then you guys are going to be hating on Saunders. All of it could have been avoided if you get a PROVEN veteran Coach (Cowher). There will still be continuity, we have the leaders of both sides of the ball still in place.

Re: Who is Next?

I think to hire anyone but Greg Williams would be an insult to Greg Williams. He has his thumbprint on that team already, they are moving in the right direction, and he desrves the shot. It has to be GW.

Not sure Cowher would be a good fit as HC. A defensive minded HC with a history in the 3-4. If Cowher comes in and Williams stays, it may cause some minor issues in defensive philosophies.

Re: Who is Next?

If Snyder hires a college coach he might as well re-sign Deion Sanders,Bruce Smith and start this whole damn I'm a gillionaire with a play toy thing over again.

Re: Who is Next?

Take this with a grain of salt, but I just heard on the Junkies(local DC talk radio) that Gibbs is staying on as an advisor to help Snyder pick the next head coach. Gibbs top choice... Bill Cowher.

As I said, take it with a grain of salt, but one of the Junkies is close to an executive in the Redskins organization and he's usually right when tossing out rumors...

Re: Who is Next?

I don't want Cowher. I think he is overrated and does not fit Washington very well. I don't really think Williams will be a success either, but I have to say the continuity piece is important. You have to keep Saunders for that to work though. Saunders proved once again that his system will work if you have capable players(Collins) to execute it.

Re: Who is Next?

I would like the team to promote Greg Williams to head coach, retain Al Saunders as assistant head coach - offensive and promote Greg Blache to assistant head coach - defense. This would maintain continuity in both offense and defense. Unfortunately, if Greg Williams is promoted, I would be surprised if Al Saunders stays. If Dan Snyder decides to go another way, please do not hire a college coach. I would prefer a veteran head coach with winning experience. I like Bill Cowher. I hate Mike Martz as a head coach but as an offensive coordinator, he is ok.

Re: Who is Next?

What about Urban Meyer? JK.

Knowing Snyder's style, I think a lot of this will come down to internal interviews with star players and team leaders. If they give GW the endorsement you have to think it will be him. If they give Snyder any ammunition at all to justify going for the big hire he will take it and run with it.

I have said this in other threads but Cowher, while obviously a good man and great coach, seems like the kind of hire that's doomed to fail. He is going to want full control first of all. Second it will constitute a complete deconstruction of the current coaching infrastructure, as he'll certainly bring his boys with him. Finally, and most importantly, the local expectations will go through the roof, incommensurate with the team's talent level. As was the case in the past, that's a recipe for disaster.

Re: Who is Next?

Whoever gets the job,I just hope like hell Jason C. will be the starter next yr.

Gonna be hard enough for him and all the players to adjust to this ongoing soap opera, but to take his job away sure would mess with his development and his mindset.
