I think Fassel and Mariucci are pretty interchangeable actually. Both are very solid coaches who know how to lead a locker room and at the same time delegate. Neither one is going to reinvent the wheel, but they don't need to.

When you break down what Gibbs' role was here, he was basically the CEO of the coaching staff. Sure he had his input but both sides of the ball basically took care of themselves. We don't need a hands on dictator at HC, we just need someone to oversee the operation and be the face of the staff. I agree that Fassel and Mooch are fairly interchangeable, that said I would still prefer Mariucci. |
