Re: Is Football the National Pastime?
Baseball is such a second tier sport, yet sports media treat it like it is the no. 1 sport...but it is not. The whole steroids issue alone has made baseball a joke. They have a ridiculous long season, their games are too long, and no one ever pays attention to the sport unless it's the Sox and Yankees. Baseball has been fortunate to depend on old timers and tradition to keep their sport alive, but honestly if the sport doesn't make any changes (shorter season, salary cap, shorter games) it will go the way of the NHL.
Football is undoubtly the number 1 sport in the country, and as someone mentioned before, it's a national obsession.
