Re: why does congress want to look into"spygate"?
I doubt that Specter cares the Eagles lost. Comcast cable, who is in a big lawsuit with the NFL, has given somewhere between 200,000 and 500,000 dollars to Specter though his PAC funds. I get the feeling that he is using Spygate to threaten NFL's antitrust, thus putting pressure to settle the lawsuit with Comcast.

NFL Network. I believe it's something like the NFL has alleged that Comcast moved the NFL Network to a less accessible digital tier after the NFL didn't give 8 games to Comcast's Versus channel and instead gave it to NFL Network.

Well in that case NFL Network should be punished. Especially since they decided to broadcast and NFL Films special on high school football instead of the Bears vs Redskins. And for the record I don't have Comcast, well at least not at college.

Why should the NFL Network be punished? NFL broadcasts are not a right. We've been accustomed to them being over the air for free, but 25 years ago championship boxing was on network television, not pay per view or HBO. It's their league, they can do with broadcast rights what they want to. If people don't like it, they have 3 options-get DirecTv, go to a sports bar or STFU and quit bitching about it.

Re: why does congress want to look into"spygate"?
Well seeing as most people here live in the Washington/Maryland/Virginia area, seeing Redskin games on a weekly basis is no big deal. But for me it's a rare chance to see my team play in real time. So when I found out during the offseason that NFL Network was going to broadcast the Redskins/Bears game I was excited. Then the day finally came and like any other network NFL Network game they had the pregame show live on site, the players where warming up, and I was thinking man this is awesome.
Then it came time for the game to start but instead of the game there was this NFL Films presentation on High School Football, and I remember thinking maybe it's just a brief pre-game segment, I mean most games don't start exactly at the top of the hour, but then half and hour went by and I started to get ancy. I turned to the preview channel and the listing said "TBA". After a while I realized that I wasn't going to get a chance to see the Redskins game, especailly after seeing the gamecast on NFL.com. Something like that would never happen with ESPN. I mean can you imagine a local ESPN affiliate broadcasting a rodeo or poker instead of Monday Night Football? I mean granted every MNF game isn't always what it's hyped up to be but still theres an expectation of the fact that you're going to get to see a game. Ironically I have the same problem with Fox showing rodeo's with 5 people in attendance instead of a second NFL game, even if it's not a Redskin game, I'm still a fan of pro football. With that said, I think it's about time the NFL developed a league pass to watch games online like Major League Baseball, if they haven't done so already.

Comcast sucks so bad it's not even funny. I'm so glad they're not getting my business anymore.
