I think that's a pretty fair deal for a #2 these days.

Plus the market is just crazy. Some DT in Oakland who I've never heard of got $18 million in guarantees ... Andre Davis got $8 million in guarantees ... and we won't have Brunell's big contract and will likely go after a low-priced #3 QB so it will work out numbers wise. Good news I think, to have TC back. Glad they got this done.

Yeah the FA market looks like it's going to pick up where it left off last year with marginal guys getting mega deals and stars getting insane mega deals. Sounds like there may have been a bit of a bidding war for Collins, I like that we got this done quickly. He was definitely a top priority. Nice to see us paying our own guys for once.

Matty - lets hope that teams go bonkers this year - as many GM's have said that the talent pool is not that great. That way teams will use up their cap space so when the SKins eventually do get some cap room in future years the competition will be lower if you know what I mean.

Really?? I think that was way too much. I don't think older back-ups like Brad Johnson, Trent Diler, Gus, Kerry Collins or Charlie Batch made or make that much. I'm glad he's back but for 3mil a year?? I'm not sure JC is making much more than that.

I don't know about you but I'd take Collins over any of those guys you named. Check out gtripp's post above about some other guys that have signed similar deals.

Plus it sounds like there was a bit of a bidding war for TC, so I really don't think $3M is that unreasonable. MB was making that much last year as the #3.

The $3 million per season figure means nothing. The contract could be incredibly backloaded for the 3rd season, at which time he'll be 40 and probably won't be a Redskin anymore.

What matters is how much in the way of guaranteed money we paid him. If we gave him $5 million guaranteed (I highly doubt it) then I can understand the complaint.

But as with any NFL contract, coming up with a per-season value is meaningless. The guaranteed portion is what really matters.

Sounds like he got a signing bonus of $3M

Thanks I didn't see that. So his cap hit this year is probably $1.85 million (assuming he's getting the vet min base salary this year and they backloaded the base salaries in the last two years).

That's by no means a killer for a backup QB.

Sounding more and more like a steal for us if you ask me.
