We Should draft Jordy Nelson - Kansas State WR in the 3rd
Jordy Nelson is big 6'3" 217lbs and has some good speed running 4.51 at the combine. I saw him toast Aqib Talib multiple times last season in the Kansas vs Kansas State game. He was clearly faster then Talib smoking him down the sideline after a catch by a good margin (Talib runs a 4.44). Everybody who watches tape on this guy is falling in love with his game up here. He could be there in the 3rd round... hopefully he's high on the skins draft board.
02/21/08 - If a player has a flaw, the combine will find it. Nelson expects to do well in the physical part of the combine, but he thinks he'll really shine in the psychology. He's a humble, small-town kid from Riley. He went to a small high school, Riley County. He went to K-State originally as a walk-on and made himself into an All-American. Yeah, looks like the psychological stuff will be a breeze. "I don't think I'll probably be that outstanding in the physical drills," Nelson said. "But I'll be right in the pack, doing good. The personality stuff -- I'm going to be someone who is going to work hard and do what they ask. "I won't be causing any problems on the field or off the field. I think everyone pretty much knows the athletic ability. You have to sell the person you are, how you act. They're possibly going to be paying you a lot of money. They don't want to waste it." Nelson is 6-foot-3, 217 pounds and he has run a 4.4 40-yard dash. The overwhelming image I have of his 2007 season is when he beat Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib for a touchdown early in the KU-KSU game in Manhattan. - Bob Lutz, The Wichita Eagle 02/08/08 - PRO POTENTIAL: WR Jordy Nelson - As a speedy, 6-foot-3 target with great hands, Nelson could be a first-day selection. He can help an NFL team in a variety of spots, including on special teams, after beginning his college career as a defensive back. 02/07/08 - 02/07/08 - Draft Scout Risers: Eddie Royal and California wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins were undoubtedly the two most impressive receivers at the Senior Bowl, but perhaps the wideout who opened the most eyes with his performance in Mobile was Kansas State Jordy Nelson. Nelson went from former walk-on to an All-American as a senior, finishing second in the nation in both receptions (122) and receiving yards (1,606). Many scouts attributed this sudden rise in success to the Wildcats' passing game, but Nelson's reliable route-running, hands, and size still has scouts buzzing.

Do you think Albert will be available then? Some drafts have him going in the mid to late teens. I would love to see him on our squad of course.

You never know how it will unfold on draft day... if he drops to us he would be really hard to pass up. He would be dominant force as a pulling guard and could play tackle as well. If he's gone Chilo Rachal from USC in the 3rd should be a Guard on our radar.

Believe I know his capabilities, because I have watched him at our games for the past 3 years. A beast to say the least. Received a lot less hype because of Chris Long, but a great player.

Isn't it fun having draft picks to talk about??? I would approve of a Jordy Nelson in the third, and I would REALLY like Albert in the first. If we do in fact get an extra 3rd round compensatory pick, we could snag two eventual starters in that round.

Re: We Should draft Jordy Nelson - Kansas State WR in the 3rd
lol....yea
He, I, and Jordy are going out for beers later. :0) I hope he would be there, but as the premium on big receivers heightens closer to draft day, we may have to take him in the 2nd. Look at his bio. He would be Joe Gibbs version of the perfect Redskin. He has all of the things that you can't teach, including speed. If he does fall to the third, we may have to trade up to get him. Its hard to see an All-American and/or Heisman candidate fall out of the first day( see Troy Smith).

He'd probably be a special teams standout too... He played DB a few years back. I'd consider him in the second, have to see who's on the board

Re: We Should draft Jordy Nelson - Kansas State WR in the 3rd
if its our comp 3rd or doesn't stop us from getting a good value with the comp 3rd (by taking him at #21 that round), then that's fine.
hardy is a 1st rounder, and is probably gone before we can take him. he also has possible character issues. and again, if you look at his highlights, an awful lot of them wouldn't happen in the NFL due to faster players and smaller windows. that doesn't mean he'll suck, but it'll be much harder to put up the numbers he had in college. |

It's really pretty nice to have some picks and discuss. Gives us fans something to ponder over a long offseason. It's a good feeling. |

If Albert fell to us at 21 and we passed I would be pretty damn mad. I don't think that'll happen. He is a safe pick and someone will probably pull the trigger on him between 10-15.

I like where we are in the first at 21. Talent runs deep at a lot of positions. At this point depending at who's mock you look at Albert could be there for us. In a month let's see where he's projected to go.
