If corners aren't there(Cromartie & Jenkins), go DE Groves or HArvey. If we get a second 3rd rounders, and the corners arent there, go WR HArdy or Sweed.

harvey is the guy i'd like the most. he's still 271lbs and he lifted MUCH better than merling (who's a 276lbs one year college wonder), and that's besides merling's hernia surgery. |

jackson also has more college experience, and if he falls to the 2nd, then that'd be a good value pick. either way, nfl success depends a lot on the destination team and the fit, so who knows. |

However from a pure DE perspective, Lawrence Jackson is my pick. And honestly he would be the second or third DE on my board after Long and Harvey. Merling is solid, but honestly he reminds me of Smoot's BOY Justin Smith. Stout against the run but little to medium pass rush ability. Jackson on the other hand got 10.5 sacks last year from the LE spot in a conference that favors offense, (as well as passing but still the OT's in that conference are groomed to become pass protectors). Also as far as our potential Falcons dream trade scenario I came up with a rationalization. The Redskins have become extremely cheap so getting out of the first round is a must. The Falcons will hopefully draft Matt Ryan which will make our lives a lot easier. So why would the Falcons trade back into the first round? I mean they have a possible true #1 Reciever in Roddy White who defied all odds with a 1,200+ yard season in 2007. Well if the Falcons draft a QB then the next logical step would be find a LT to protect him. This draft is deep at OT so the Falcons can still find a potential franchise LT at 21 where as we're set at LT for the next 4 or 5 years. And as much as I would love Albert I would rather have 3 second round picks that could easily produce 3 starters within the next 2-3 years. From what I can see the Falcons could take a look at Gosder Cherilus who played LT with Ryan last year at BC or they could go with an excellent pass blocker like Anthony Collins, though taking him at 21 would be way to early. Ironically they could also make a play for Albert. They also might make a play at corner with the possiblity of a guy like Aquib Talib or Mike Jenkins being available at 21. Oh yeah, guys I hate to burst your bubble, but in the eyes of the scouts DRC is 1337. So theres no way he falls to us at 21......sorry. Oh well, look on the bright side. Corners are so last season. Safetys are the new corners in todays NFL. Of course I'm still stumped how 4 corners from small schools/Kansas (who was a Basketball school before last year) found their way into the first round in the same year. So Dirtbag359's current pipe dream goes as follows Falcons 3rd overall - Matt Ryan - QB - BC Falcons 21st overall - Gosder Cherilus - LT/RT - BC Falcons 3rd Round 21st overall - Probably a LB or CB that I've never heard of. Redskins 37th overall - Lawrence Jackson - DE - USC Redskins 47th overall - Chilo Rachel - G - USC (Could just as easily be Carl Nicks but we'll go with Rachel for now) Redskins 51st overall - Jordy Nelson - WR - Kansas State Lol, USC is the Redskins new Miami. Ironically they could take 3 USC players in the second round with Terrell Thomas being available at CB.

If we pick up an extra 3rd rounder from the compensatory draft pool, then we may wanna look at WR, OT/OG, CB in the first (Sweed, Albert, Jenkins). Quote:
