With the status of our CB position already shaky and the uncertainty with the health of Carlos, we will certainly have to address this need in the draft. I like the progress Reed made last year and think he will be just fine at SS, if anything you bring in a later round draft or FA to compete and push Reed/depth move.

Hah, yeah Brady Quinn probably said the same thing... but I have a feeling he wants to make that top 5 draft pick money more than anything

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
Any ideas if Springs would move to Safety? I know they were looking to move him to that position last year.

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
I was only saying that would have made since if we would have went after Hall.
We could have moved Springs to SS, to swap with Doughty and springs could also be a interchangable CB/nickel, and then we would also draft a CB and would have Quite a nice secondary. |

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
We woulda had Springs/Doughty as SS, Landry at FS with Fox backing him up. Hall as our #1cb and smoot/rogers would share that #2 spot while rogers is worked back into the line up.Springs coulda came in at nicke as well. Leigh Torrence/Eubanks as depth. (Plus we don't know what small veteren CB signings if any.

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
I see us playing Springs as cb1,Smoot at cb2 .. Rogers will be worked back into the line-up most likely like Springs was after coming off a major injury. I'm sure we will draft a CB and we have Torrence and Eubanks as depth.
By the time Rogers is completely healthy, he will be back in the #2 role, Springs will be #1, Smoot/Rookie will play cb3/nickle,Torrence and Eubanks will provide quality depth and they know the system and scheme. We have Laron Landry at FS with Reed Doughty at SS. Hopefully Vernon Fox will come back and be depth if needed behind LaRon. I believe the coaches will bring in competition into camp to make Doughty work harder, and see if he wants that starting job. So I have no idea who we will bringing in as far as depth wise/competition at the SS spot. |

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
Prioleau is a solid third safety for us. He is a solid, veteran presence and he is good in coverage and also will come up and stop the run. Obviously you don't want to overpay for a guy like Prioleau but if we can get him for slightly above the veteran minimum I'd support the move.

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
How do you figure?? springs can can tackle very well, and he's pretty big. He's slower, so he would be better at SS right now in his career. Plus he's not better than landry at FS

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
I do not want him to go but at the same time I would not give him that great of a deal. The image of him missing that tackle on T.O. will forever be linked with his name in my mind now. Matter of fact when I saw him in the game for the rest of the season I was like "oh no, here comes a TD", funny how I got the same reaction with AA, what makes PP ok is the fact we didnt pay him a bagillion dollars.

Re: Pierson Prioleau?
if he's the best FA available, that's really not saying much.
he'll either be here or in jacksonville. decent roster fill, but not a terrible loss if he leaves. |
