If Albert is gone, I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point that we will draft on the DL in the 1st round.
Yeah from the sound of things Blache is pushing hard for a DL. And Blache is not the kind of guy you want to piss off.

If Albert were actually there that would look like a major steal at this point. In some of the latest mocks (I know, I know) from reputable guys he has gone in the top 10 (5 to KC in Kiper's, 9 to NE - after trade - in Kirwan's). If he was there the Skins should DEFINITELY take him over Campbell. You can trade back up in the 2nd and take a DL if Blache flips over a table or something.

Snyder: Excuse me Mr. Blache, um we've decided that we'd be better off trading for Chad Johnson instead of drafting Phillip Merling.

Blache:

Snyder: um I uh was just kidding...ha ha...see funny huh....huh?....I mean we would never take a premadonna like Chad over a Defensive Lineman....I mean it was Vinny's idea

(Snyder runs away)

LMAO!!! I actually liked that movie.

Question about Albert: why has this kid's stock risen faster than Enron in the 90's. Originally i heard he would be lucky to go in the 1st round (I swear I even read that from Kiper himself). Then it looked like he would be a good pick at 21. Now we're unlikely to get him! What gives? Did the dude have a break-out combine or did o-line suddenly become a major priority out there?

My guess is that teams are looking at it in a way where at worst they get a guy who ends up being a second tier Guard (in the leauge not the draft class). However whats responsible for his recent Enron/Worldcom/Martha Stewart like rise is his potential to become a franchise LT. To me thats the only explanation. In short high floor and a high ceiling may be responsible for his stock increase. That or he developed a technique where he can block defensive players just by looking at them.

Reasonable explanation, particularly that staring-the-defense-down-trick. Franchise LT potential is definitely worth 21st over all and probably worth even more, so I see more of what's goin on here. If he falls to us we should definitely take him then, right? I mean, do ya really need to figure out how a guy w/ that kind of potential will develop in terms of position. He's either going to be a badass guard or a dominant tackle.
