So I Started Seeing This Girl....

So, I dunno if you guys remember, but a while back I said that there was this girl I was mad for and blah blah blah. I can't remember if I said it on this forum , but last Friday I came out and asked her out on a PROPER date. No sitting there wondering if it was a date date or a mate date.

Anyway, she said "Yea that would be cool, we could hang out... just as friends"

And I was pretty gutted

Anyway, earlier on today we met up for a jam round at my friends house. We were working on stuff for a few hours and we eventually ran out of steam and left. Now as I walked her home, I was thinking about what I could do. Could I say to her "Look, I really like you, you know... like THAT" and at least that would clear up any confusion that either of us may have. It's out in the open, blunt and mainly CLEAR.

But then I thought "Hey... but what if she's not sure if she likes me? And she wants to hang out as friends before saying anything just to make sure of how she feels?". Tough call, I know. But either way I'd have to work out what to do or say pretty soon.

Anyway, we get to her door and I say to her "We're no strangers to love. You know the rules and so do I. A full commitment's what I'm thinking of, you wouldn't get this from any other guy. I just gotta tell you what I'm feeling... gotta make you understand. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you. We've known each other for so long, your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it. Inside we both know what's been going on, we know the rules and we're gonna play it. And if you ask me how I'm feeling, don't tell me you're too blind to see"

Re: So I Started Seeing This Girl....

Ouch buddy. Sounds like a train wreck. The fact that she made a point to specify that your dinner date was just a friends thing is not a good sign. To put it in crude biological terms, she is not thinking of you as a potential mate.

In a situation like this the worst thing you can do is give some speech about how much you have in common and how into her you are, as if you can convince her to like you. This will creep her out and send her running. It also reeks of desperation. I mean, does she feel you really know her? That kind of heavy stuff comes later in relationship, once you have gotten past the surface of somebody and established real intimacy. Anyway, you should just be cool and relaxed around her, and then the next time you are alone together make a move. If she rejects you, no big deal. You betray no hurt, you express with your body language and confidence that she has no power over you.

Easier said than done right? But its the only way. At this point I think your best strategy for winning her over is to get a girlfriend who is way hotter and cooler than her. That always works. In lieu of that, I would suggest not getting too hung up on her, and focusing on ways to improve yourself. Women love a self-assured man who is completely independent, and it sounds like at this point your are giving away your power to her.

Holla, let me know how it turns out.

Djnemo, it was a joke. We've all just been Rick Rolled, albeit in a creative way.

If only djnemo had been around to give Rick Astley that same advice, then the world might never have been subjected to that song.
