It seemed like there was a lot of confusion in the zone defense between Smoot, Rogers and Landry, and lot of that could be contributed to Landry's having missed the entire preseason and not having been on the field with those guys since January. By the 2nd quarter, those lapses in coverage were not nearly as bad. As for stopping the run, it did get ugly, but the offense certainly wasn't helping out. So, optimistically, if Landy and the corner's just needed a bit of work together, and the offense had actually had maintained a few extended drives that gave the defense a chance to rest, than the almost 400 yards (354 to be exact) could have easily been under 300. |

As strange as it may sound -- I thought Moss and Randle El looked more involved and potentially explosive than anytime in the past couple years. They seem to be more comfortable in this offense. I can see a lot of production coming from these guys this season when the passing game gets more in sync. We just need fewer 7 yard routes on 3rd & 8.
