I know we're splitting hairs, but there is a key difference in the definitions. elite is simply a description of a person or group.

The problem I have with Elitism is: The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
