Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
There was a reason he barely saw the field for us. He might be able to make circus catches, but he probably has a poor work ethic and doesnt practice hard. I know when he did his radio show with Bram Weinstein he talked a lot about wanting to be a rapper. Not exactly a Gibbs guy, but it seems there is a short of recievers in the league right now and I'm glad some team found a use for him.

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
Give Lloyd some credit. He's playing very well for the Bears. I still stand with my statement that Gibbs had a bit of a vendetta against Lloyd after he showed up to the locker room with a hat that said "FUCK" on it.

I am still not ready to give Lloyd a ton of credit. Let's see how he does the full 16 games. he looked good for SF for a bit as well.

2. You have consistently argued the "Hat Incident" even after it was clear that Lloyd was despised by all at Redskins Park, not just Gibbs. I for one, had never seen any reference to the Hat Incident by anyone except you. Rather, after the initial feel good period, every report out of camp was that Lloyd was an ass. - He blamed his QB for dropping balls, he didnt' have the trust of his teammates, etc. Based on everything I read, Lloyd simply didn't have the trust of his QB's so no one was looking for him 'cause most of the time they couldn't trust that he'd be there. It is clear that, despite evidence to the contrary, you will always blame others for Lloyd's shortcomings, particularly Gibbs. I on the other hand have no doubt that, if Lloyd could play and had the trust of his QB's, Gibbs would have played him - a' la Riggins (no choirboy he).

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
im starting to think lloyd is the type of guy where if he is not "the man" and main receiver option for a team he gets emotionally sensitive and plays with much less dedication. . . seems like some players now a days have this "i need to be told every day that you love me and cant live without me" thing going on.
but good for him, glad to see he is getting all the "lovie" he needs to play well. i was higher on brandon then i was ARE and they both have fallen under our production expectations. go skins!! |

And the week before he blocked a punt and scored a TD all on the same play.

He didn't block it, he just caught it and ran it in.

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
B Lloyd has talent. Alot of talent. He didn't get any playing time and our offense was not "reciever" friendly. I'm not placing blame on him or the coaches, but the fact is he really didn't play often here.

He's a talented player, no question. He's a douchebag, no question. So he's a talented Douchebag. Can we drop it now?

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
JoeRedskin, I find it interesting you still put all the blame on Lloyd. Before he comes to DC he's a productive player. When he leaves DC he's a productive player. Is the issue Lloyd or DC? I'm willing to bet DC. He may be a douchebag, I hear lots of players are douchebags. Unfortunately, it's part of the sport.
Fact is -- you need to get on the field to make plays. He rarely was on the field, and even rarer was he targeted for a pass. I'm not shocked that never seeing the field makes someone upset. Especially when they sign a large contract and expecting to get play time. Regardless of the reason -- Lloyd didn't get a chance here and I think we missed out on a talented guy.

Re: Bears Sign Brandon Lloyd to One-Year Deal
Some players are just better fits on different teams. Lloyd wasn't exactly the best locker room guy and I think that had a lot to do with his troubles here with an old school type of coaching staff. Yeah the guy has talent but his worth ethic was questionable as well as his route running. I don't think either side is more to blame. It just didn't work out.

I agree that Lloyd is off to his most productive start of his career this year, and Chicago's offense may actually benefit from having a receiver that doesn't get separation, but will catch the ball anyway. Of course, for a majority of offenses, that leads to unnecessary interception risk. For Gibbs, that meant he couldn't play. I know you'll put that one on Gibbs, but for pretty much all coaches, that means he can't play. And if Lloyd is willing to play hard for Ron Turner and Ron Turner is willing to put his last life as an NFL coordinator on Brandon Lloyd as a starting WR, more power to them both. But he's just not very good, and even if the Bears can manage to salvage something out of his career, they probably could have been more productive if they used their efforts on a more promising talent, IMO.
