Re: Vice Presidential Debate Thread

as far as the military man thing - bill clinton and george bush have been terrible for our military, and i much rather have someone with some experience there than not. obama is COMPLETELY out of touch with the military, how it works, and the people in it - at least that's my personal experience and that of those i know. i'm really sorry powell didn't run in 2000 (i know the wife story) and i'm sorry he got played by bush like that, cause he's more qualified than both of these guys combined. BOTH parties are pushing for legislation they can't pay for, both explain that they'll pay for it with things that don't come close to covering cost (mccain's death to earmarks and lower gov spending, obama's taxes and oversight into insurance companies). I much rather vote for someone to slash government waste/spending(farm subsidies, earmarks, etc), fix the big problems (massive research into hydrogen/new battery technology/new electric car tech, sane nuke laws, nuke plants, medicare, SS, actually holding execs and scam artists accountable (if china can do it, we should be able to). that being said, neither one offers even half of those things. mccain has a few, obama has a couple (though i like his push for education reform, i'm not sure his plan really fixes the problem or can even be implemented due to costs - funding no child left behind would be a good start though, and i think newt spent a lot of time on the education problem, so i'd like to read on that). neither one really has a solid economic plan that accounts for the current situation and their total policy package (obamas capital gains quotes from early on were retarded stupid though, hopefully he's fixed that), so i can't see how someone can be that hard up against mccain when neither party is offering much in the way of leadership and tough decision making. maybe that changes when they get sworn in and feel like they can finally stop pandering, but this whole process is backwards. |
