Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

I'm worried about missing Springs against Pittsburgh than about missing Samuels. To my knowledge Springs has already said he's out till after the bye, which is bad news w/ Big Ben always looking to hurl the deep shots. We need the very best coverage possible come Monday night and what is probably our best corner still won't be on the field. Heyer will look better next week. I think he was shaky from not starting in a while but from all accounts this kid really wants to prove himself and IMO his struggles are partially a concentration issue - his head should be in the game 100%.

If anyone watched the NYG-Pitt game yesterday, the recipe for beating Pittsburgh is pretty clear- get to the QB! Big Ben was pressured by blitzes all night and threw 4 INTs.

But we couldn't sack a QB even if he had lead in his shoes, so this could be a problem. Their O-line isn't that great, but neither is Detroit's and we barely laid a hand on Orlovsky. Willie Parker will be back next Monday too...

That's what has me worried - we never really get consistent pressure on the QB so we need great coverage to shore up the deep threats especially. I expect Ben to take a ton of deep shots if we're w/o Springs (as it sounds). Willie Parker doesn't worry me because our run defense is strong as ever and Horton should be back next week as well.

According to Yahoosports, Zorn said in the presser that Moss has "a little swelling" in his hammy. Awesome. Get in those ice baths on that massage table, Santana. Relentless treatment. We need you against Pitt. You can rest during the bye.

Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

I would have Samuels have the surgery ASAP and sacrifice missing a couple of games but having the peace of mind in getting him back towards the end of the season and hopefully into the playoffs. In the meantime, I would activate Reinhart and see what he's made off in case Heyer continues to struggle.
