Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall

I wouldn't mind Walker coming over. It doesn't seem like Kelly will be ready this season.
Were shallow at WR.

I'm wavering on Walker. On the one hand he would probably have a more immediate impact than Thomas. On the other hand, Thomas (and Davis) need to get out there and play and take their lumps.

Walker may have value to a team ranked 25th in offense with a single WR threat who may develop a lingering leg injury.

This may be quite possible considering our #5 WR may end up on injured reserve anyways.

My questions regarding Walker
What is his current contract?
Can we afford it?
Is he likely to get through waivers?

Yes, because nobody is going to pony up that kind of dough for him right now. He is going to clear waivers and become a free agent.

But Devin doesn't even know the playbook. He's running the wrong routes, which apparently led to an INT against Pitt. If him taking lumps hurts us like that, I say ride the pine. Of course, with Moss hurt our receiving corps drops off like the Grand Canyon, so we really have no choice but to play him. With Moss, ARE, Cooley, and then three pass catchers taken with the first three picks, I would have never envisioned us having this kind of discussion. Damn.

Of course Devin is screwing up though; he's a rookie playing in an offense that is new for everyone. As good as we are now, we need to take a long term approach. It will take years for the entire team to learn this offense, but when it finally does, it will be nasty. The more we can keep guys in (ESPECIALLY guys who are making mistakes) the more dividends it will pay in the long run.
