So who would play dimeback? Smoot or Hall? I'm torn. He could either wreck team chemistry or give us a young, talented corner at a low price.

As we hear it, several teams are actively pursuing cornerback DeAngelo Hall, now that he has cleared waivers and become an unrestricted free agent.

We’re told that Hall is talking to several teams, including high-level folks with more than one franchise. One source characterized it as a “frenzy” of activity.

Adam Schefter reports that the Giants, Redskins, Steelers, and Patriots are interested.

As we hear it, the Giants are out, but the Saints are in.

Hall is looking for the “best situation” for him. The factors that will drive this determination aren’t known.

Our guess is that it will be hard for him to get much more than the prorated league minimum salary, but if he can spark a bidding war, he might be able to squeeze out something better than that.

I think this is overblown. Our locker room is among the best, if not THE best in football. One man isn't gonna wreck it. Imagine what London Fletcher would do to him if he tried acting a fool? Or Blache for that matter? Hall is in a touchy spot as far as his career is concerned. If he doesn't want to fade into oblivion he'll straighten up. He's only 24 too. If he shuts his mouth and plays ball we could have a sick corner tandem for years.

Very good pts GM. I still don't think he'll choose the Skins though. If the reports are accurate at least half the NFL is taking a look at him.

He's from Chesapeake, VA, so he's relatively local, plus according to his agent he want to play for a winner. Hall also came out and said he likes our defensive scheme. We have a way of making sure we get a guy when we want him.

I hope it doesn't involve giving him very much money.

I can live with picking him up on a cheap one year deal. Let him come in and prove himself on the field and in the locker room. I have serious doubts as to whether he pull it off, but if he proves me wrong I'll gladly eat that crow.

To that point do we know how much we can actually spend i.e. salary cap?

According to Redskins Insider, Hall is willing to accept a short term deal. I say a prorated 2 year (7 games this season and next season), with limited guaranteed money, but nice escalator clauses if he stays in line and plays well.

I'm not sure what other teams are offering, but I doubt we'd get him if we only offered him a contract for the last 7 games.

I agree with you, Matty. The cost has to be reasonably cheap. I'll say it again, he's shown what he's capable of when his head is right, and he's only 24.

I cannot speak for him, but I have a feeling that he wants to be here.

On a side note, I am not trying to bring up old stuff, but I was against bringing Jason Taylor here. Up to this point it seems as if my gut feeling on JT was correct. Well, my gut feels good about the possibility of bringing in Hall. I agree that we shouldn't dump Snyders estate on him, but I feel that bringing him for a season or 2 to prove himself is a good idea. I am not a psychic, but I can see this working out well for both sides.
