Re: Gregg Williams out in J-Ville
I would personally love to have Greg Williams back. He was the only man for the redskins job and Snyder blew it last year. He learned from coach Gibbs how to deal with players, and he had the defense and offense ready to walk through a wall for him in the aftermath of the Taylor tragetity and Gibbs retirement. If he would have became head coach I think he would of clashed with Vinny big time.

Re: Gregg Williams out in J-Ville
I'd take GW back in a heartbeat. Blache has been terrible. He sends the team on blitzes more than any other coordinator in the league yet we still rank near the bottom in sacks. He doesn't have an understanding of how to cover the hots while sending pressure. We consistently get burned on hot routes because the blitzes are too predictable. He's not creative enough with his blitz schemes, the pressure always comes evenly across the line of scrimmage, never overloading one side or another, and never disguising very well.
One thing you totally do not see anymore with GW gone: London Fletcher making presnap movements. I never see D-linemen shifting before the snap. GW and Fletcher were like one mind, Fletch knew exactly where to move his teammates. I don't see that now, and it hurts us most on 8 minute clock killing 4th quarter drives when our linemen are caught away from the point of attack. Blache has to be fired, and if Zorn doesn't get it together over these final two games, I'm coming for his head too.

Re: Gregg Williams out in J-Ville
Both Greggs are very good coaches. I like both of them and believe GW will do fine somewhere else. Blanche has done a good job putting the players we have in position to make plays. The problem is none of our playmakers are on the D line. If you look at the D stats from last year and this year, their almost exactly the same, and Blanche and company have done it without ST. So I disagree completely with any notion of change for the DC position. I completely agree with adding some studs to the D line.

Re: Gregg Williams out in J-Ville
Gregg Williams is a talented D Coordinator but with his personality I think that his act gets old after a while and players start tuning him out. Plus there comes a point where management gets tired of his crap after a while too.
I know a diehard Bills fan, trust me we did not want him as a head coach. |

I doubt Williams will return here, but it's not entirely out the realm of possibility. In fact, I would say I wouldn't at all be surprised. He still has a tight bond with the players. Contrary to popular belief, he and Snyder get along fine and if Zorn were to be let go (which I think is probably at around 80% right now) then there are only a couple of coaches out there who Snyder could go after that would be able to mitigate, to some extent, the pr damage that would be done if Zorn was not the coach next season (whatever the reason may be).

Really? You think the the probability is that high? The reason the skins have sucked for so many years, is that they lack a cohesive strategy, they eventually are going to have stick with one coach/system if they want to win.

Re: Gregg Williams out in J-Ville
I know Blache is no G-Williams and there are somethings that defense should be doing; but I honestly believe we would have been with a losing record earlier in the season if it weren't for our defense.

Re: Gregg Williams out in J-Ville
i think he couldnt get it goin in Jacksonville because of personell...they had severe secondary issues (Rashean Mathis also injured later in the year). I think our D would have flourished if we woulda kept his system. BRING EM BACK! BRING EM BACK!

Re: Gregg Williams out in J-Ville
There are a few fundamental things I do not like about Blache's defenses.
1) They do not disguise anything. When a player is going to blitz they give it away by crowding the line of scrimmage, telegraphing that they are coming. They do not do a good job of disguising their coverages in the secondary and gap responsibilities on the D-line. That is just poor coaching. The element of suprise is very important in football. Only super talented teams can get away with telegraphing what they are going to do becasue they are going to beat you with shear superior ability. Sorry, we are not that good. 2) I do not like the way Blache has used some of his players. The obvious one, J. Taylor is not a strong side RDE. Put him where he blongs on the weakside RDE position. Playing Smoot over Hall and Springs. He has not situation substituted his LB's enough. I do like that he benched Rocky after a miserable 1st half last week, but itcame a game too late. Rocky is a little light in the size department. Fincher played much more physical and played well in place of Rocky. I would play Finher and Blades on the outside on obvious running plays. Teams are going to continue to run at our DE's, so our OLB bettter be able to stop the run. Bring Rocky in on obvious pass plays to use his speed to cover backs. |
