That's impressive. Imagine how great we'd be if Blache "cared" about sacking the QB?

with that said I'm glad JT got a taste of what that feels like again. Hopefully this broke the ice for him as a Skin!

Yes, it was good to see him at full speed finally. I'll feel even better about him remaining a Redskin next year if he can flatten Shaun Hill a few times this Sunday.

I've been imagining how great this defense might have been since back in '04 when Greg Williams first took over and made this defense as effective as it has been. The back seven has been pretty much money for five years--all without benefit of a legit NFL pass rush up front.

My guess is if they gave Blache a monster DT to push the middle into the QB's face once in a while, and a DE who could actually command a double-team, you'd not hear him talking about sacks being overrated. I think he's just being a good soldier, to be honest.

If they end up wasting this young secondary for the next few years w/o out ever providing them a rush up front to force QB's to throw that one split second sooner than they want ... I'm going to blow a gasket.

I've considered that, however he is pretty quick to call out the defense on it's shortcomings, and it's usually a very quotable, oddly eloquent statement that gets plenty of press around here. One day he's mocking the team for not being able to "sack groceries," and the next he doesn't think sacks are important.

So I'm not sure what he really thinks, but I agree that if we were beating up on QBs regularly, he wouldn't downplay the importance. I believe what he thinks is basically that we don't HAVE to get handfulls of sacks every game to still perform well defensively.
