Re: Pioli takes the Chiefs GM Job
That is now the million dollar question: who will be the next coach of the Chiefs?
Once the available coaches look at KC's nice set up, there could be a feeding frenzy. With al the cap space they have, they can really make a move. A good/proven QB or two will be easy to find in the 2009 FA market. That is one of their most glaring needs. Plus the could draft one for the future, there a several good QB's coming out in this years draft. I feel like the 2009 draft will be a strong class. I agree with you Smoot, Edwards must go. I never really liked what he did to the JEts and KC. |

And it was pretty apparent what they were trying to do, and I can't fault them for it, they were trying to put together a win now team because Lamar Hunt was dying. I'm not going to go so far as to say the Chiefs benefited from his death, far from it. But this past off-season is when you really started seeing a commitment to brining in some seriously good young talent that will probably win in that weak division sooner than later. As for Pioli, unlike in New England, he finally has full final say over all personnel decisions. But it's interesting how impervious he is to criticism. All this talk about reportedly wanting Kirk Ferentz from Iowa, and no one is saying anything about the poor history of college coaches moving to the NFL.
