ProFootballTalk.com - PEPPERS WANTS OUT OF CAROLINA

If we could only find the cap space to sign him. Imagine how pedestrian we could make Peppers look once he gets paid and comes to DC.

But, yeah, flat out, they can fit both those guys under the cap if they really want to. They just found two bookend tackles, theres no way Gross is getting away from them, franchise tag or else.
They could afford it but neither Gross nor Peppers wants to be in Carolina. So, the only way to keep either of them is to tag them. Thus, keeping both is impossible.
IMO, both will be elsewhere next year and I'd love to have Gross.

Samuels could get to a few more Pro Bowls if he moved to RT and with Gross in town he could move over.

I guess the trick is whether the team has the cap room to make such a big signing. An offensive like consisting of Gross and Samuels at tackles, a stud guard or center picked up at #13th, and two other veterans, would make a decent line.

Not sure if this was mentioned already but it appears Shane Lechler is on his way out of Oakland. I would love to have him.

Me too. I hope we upgrade at punter.

I would also like to draft FSU's Graham Gano to replace Suisham. Dave Rayner doesn't look like the answer at kicker, probably just competition. It'd be nice to add Graham into the mix.

We need to go after peppers since it looks like they will franchise gross. We need to go after RT max starks of Pittsburgh sproles would be good to get, but I think he'll be franchised. I'd like haynesworth but he's asking to be the richest player in the league, plus he is injury prone. We should also go after Jahri Evans, cause we need guards too. Get a DT in the draft. And dansby will probably stay with Arizona.

Julius Peppers is 29 and he wants to play in a 3-4 defense and the last time I checked we don't play in a 3-4. He will command way too much and he had a great season during a contract year.

FYI, for some reason only LT's get selected to the Pro Bowl. Samuels would likely not see another Pro Bowl if he were moved to RT. With that being said, I am not opposed to the idea of Samuels on the right side. He usually plays the right side when he goes to the Pro Bowl.

For the Skins to move him to the right, we would need to add one hell of a tackle on the left this offseason. In reality I cannot see us moving him for at least another season, but it would be great if we could. I concur that Gross could be the man to move him, but I doubt that we will get him.

I was surprised to see that you are right. Jon Runyon (2002), Lincoln Kennedy (2000, 2001, 2002), Korey Stringer (2000) and Erik Williams (1999) are the few I found in the past decade.
I was thinking of Joe Jacoby when I suggested it but despite how great he was on the right, his only Pro Bowls came when he was at LT (probably due to the exposure of going against Lawrence Taylor).
If (and this is my dream) we can sign Jordan Gross I think the move still makes sense but Samuels probably wouldn't make many if any more Pro Bowls. Of course, IMO his name got him there this year more than his on field production.

All I heard is that he wants out of Carolina, the 3-4 thing isn't fact is rumor, its more of him wanting out than than him wanting to be in a 3-4, it'll be which ever team gives him the most money is where he'll go, no matter what the defense

So you're saying you would give a 29 yr old Peppers a fat contract? I really don't think we need to spend anymore money at DE.

I would give him a four year deal that would work with our cap and money
