Re: Willis picks Seahawks over SKINS

Given the recent turn of events this is how I see the rest of the offseason shaping up.

- The team will sign Elton Brown within the coming days

- Marcus Washington, Renaldo Wynn, and Phillip Daniels will be brought back.

- Maualuga will be the Redskins pick in the draft at 13.

- When the team comes up in the third round they will try and take the best available Tackle. Possibilities are as follows
Fenuki Tupou - OT - Oregon - NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Fenuki Tupou - This guy is my newest man crush. He has the size to play RT and on top of that he's just plain nasty.

Sebastian Vollmer - OT - Houston - Don't know to much about him but he's tall. A little worried about weather or not he can put his hand in the dirt.
Phil Loadholt - OT - Oklahoma - NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Phil Loadholt Would be a coup if we could get him. Definitely has the size and personally reminds me of a more polished tackle version of Dockery.
- The team will eventually meet with Mark Tauscher if they find themselves uncomfortable with their options at RT and see weather or not he'll be ready to play by the time the season starts.

- As far as the O-Line is concerned the teams line could end up looking like this

Tackles: Chris Samuals, Stephon Heyer, Jon Jansen, 3rd Round Tackle

Guard: Derrick Dockery, Randy Thomas, Elton Brown, Chad Rhinehart

Center: Casey Rabach, Possibly Pete Kendall as a backup but not sure if the team would carry 10 O-lineman. Then again given how we broke down last year it couldn't hurt. Chad though could see a lot of time on the inactive list if Kendall gets brought back. Of course the team could very well use Jansen as the teams second Center especially with the likihood that he won't be seeing much time at RT this year.

- The way I have it calculated now the team would have 54 players on the roster. Canidates not to be on the final roster include: Rob Jackson, Scat Back, Marcus Washington, James Thrash.

The team will start abusing Geritol instead of steroids with these guys back.

You, redskinjim. You're on my list now. Anyone else want to make ageist comments. Come on lets go.

Though I'm pretty sure most of you reading this have caught on I just want to say I'm joking around.

Is that like saying I'm becoming an ageist, instead of I'm getting old?

Signing Elton Brown will convince me the FO has gone full retard. He's a guard, a shitty one at that, and we've got Dock, Thomas, Rinehart and Jansen all guaranteed to be on the roster. Dock and Thomas are legit starters, Jansen would fight his guts out I'm sure and Rinehart just needs to pull his head out.

As far as signing both Wynn and Daniels I'd again have to say the FO would be in FR mode. Together these guys will cost about what we could have paid to keep Evans, who's younger and healthier. It does look like Daniels will be back but probably we take another guy on the roster to rotate w/ him, like Buzbee. It's a shitty situation as both are coming off major injury and Buzbee hasn't shown squat.

Bringing back Marcus would tell me the FO is not drafting Rey and dead set on OT w/ the first pick. Personally I think this is our best strategy where we sit today, as much as I'm fascinated by Rey, because we desperately need serious OT talent on the roster and there's nothing left in FA.

Probably so. Looks like Barnes is asking for too much money. I know some people inside Ashburn think the problem is they need to find a new starting RT, but others feel they need more guys like Brown. Versatile, young backups that make it less painful when injuries inevitably happen to the starters.

Renaldo Wynn is one of my favorite people and I still think he's got a bit left in the tank, but I don't think we need him here. Blache wants one thing, and that's Daniels' return so I wouldn't be surprised by that. I don't think Washington will be back but they will probably look to bring either a veteran LB or DB later in the spring, after the draft shakes out.

Or Brian Cushing (I think it's starting to come full circle back to him...few more weeks to go though)

I'd like for them to go OT in the first round, but more likely they'll stay with Heyer/Jansen one more year and get some guy in the 3rd round like you say
(Xavier Fulton is another option, not sure if he's a 3rd rounder though), and I think probably a running back.

I really hope you're wrong about Cushing. His durability isn't worth a 13th overall pick and besides he played next to a phenom at USC... i know it goes both ways but think Cushing benefited more from Rey than the other way round.

... i think i remember you said Rey would be "overkill" at 13 in another thread. I don't get what you mean...

I don't know that he's worth a 13th overall pick, but his durability really that big an issue? How much time did he miss other than his freshman year.

I don't remember saying Rey would be "overkill" at 13, but I would say that I have more concerns with him at 13 than Cushing at 13 because I know Cushing can be a SAM. Not as sure about Rey. I like them both, but honestly neither at 13.

Gotcha, it's Cushing's natural ability at SLB while Rey may struggle in coverage. However... Rey could probably play WLB w/ success for a couple years before moving to the middle. Rocky would be SLB in this scenario and I think he'd do well.

... I'm of the opinion great defenses, most especially the 4-3 defense, need a monster at MLB. I haven't seen anything like Rey (out of college) in quite awhile and 1) we're relatively close to needing a replacement at the position 2) i have a hard time believing Rey won't be at least as good as Rocky has been at WLB in the interim
