I'm just sort of curious to see why would you think that it wouldn't be smart move to make cobra as our base defensive package? To me, it sounds like another version of 3-4 defense but faster?

Here's another news; Redskins Make Contract Offer to Daniels - Redskins Insider

Well, it couldn't be a 3-4 because we'd still have 4 down lineman on the line of scrimmage, regardless of the three safeties in the game. Also, you said we wouldn't need another starting LB if we ran primarily cobra. So it couldn't be a version of a defense that uses 4 LBs if we're only fielding 2. We'd have 5 DBs in the game at all times with cobra as well. So it's really a 4-2-5.

Finally some real news... nice find GridIron. Daniels can't be our full-time guy cuz of age and wear and tear so I'm curious who we pair up to rotate w/ him. Thinking more now it's Buzbee cuz he's already on our roster and I'm not sure there's enough cap room to sign a second LDE, but honestly that situation scares the shit out of me. Buzbee is coming off a major injury as well and besides hasn't proven squat.

Right, I guess I should have used "another version of defense".. But I still don't see why it would not be good idea? All it does is to add speed to our defense, although it probably would not work well when we play against teams w/ bruising running backs such as NYG w/ Jacobs.. Other than those teams, I think it would work out really well for us..

I agree with you, Goat.. However I am not sure about Buzbee; I'm hoping that we will have a chance to get look at Wilson and Rob Jackson.. Although they primarily are pass rushers but it just can't be THE reason why they are still on roster list..

Were Chris Horton and Kareem Moore so stellar in their rookie seasons that you want to use them in a 3 safety package all the time? Horton looks like a player for sure, but we play Marion Barber, Brian Westbrook, and Brandon Jacobs a combined 6x a year. I'd rather not have 5 DBs on the field against those guys.

I think we would need more speed on our D when playing against Westbrook.. Guess we would have to agree to disagree

Won't be surprised if Levi Jones becomes a FA after the draft... if worst comes to worst and we weren't able to get an OT he might be a nice option at RT and I doubt he would command big money.

that'd be surprising... and that move would definitely prevent him from getting top dollar, but he's still good enough to get real money.

I don't know that it should surprise anyone... Cinci is in desperate need of a healthy dominant LT to protect Carson Palmer and at pick 6 they will get to choose from 2 or maybe 3 of the top OTs in this year's draft. Why pay Jones a hefty sum to be a backup LT or even move to RT after the draft?

I think you're giving the Cincy front office too much credit, although after the bad draft they had last year maybe they have learned.

I thought he was a solid tackle. Why would Cinci be letting him go? If he becomes available, wouldn't he be the best tackle on the market??
