Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

If this goes down my long standing position in general support of the Dan will be extremely shaken. This is simply not a smart move in my opinion. I fail to see a reasonable way this goes down from this point that makes our team better. I am pretty disappointed right now.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

ESPN writer Bill Williamson who joined ESPN in 2008 after covering the Broncos for 4 years for the Denver Post handicaps the field of possible landing spots for Cutler this way: NYJ 3-1 TB 3-1 Det. 4-1 Chicago 5-1 Cleveland 5-1 Jacksonville 8-1 SF 8-1 Wash 10-1
At this point we don't know what the other teams are willing to offer. Hopefully DS (Dan Snyder or Dip Shit, whichever you prefer) doesn't trade Campbell away before it's a done deal.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

Florio actually makes a good point here - based on how this plays out we may not know anything until draft day. If the Skins are involved and Cambpell is going to a team other than Denver, it would seem plausible if not probable that Denver will be getting their QB of the future in the draft. In which case I guess it makes sense that nothing would be announced until draft day.

ProFootballTalk.com - ‘Skins Chasing Cutler

As I said earlier, I think we're gonna need the Jets, Browns, Bucs, or any other interested team to swoop in and save us from ourselves.

Wow...just wow. I think the FO has already bungled this thing, maybe beyond repair as far as JC's future in Washington is concerned. I mean the difference between us and NY Jets/Tampa Bucs is we have a guy set to be the starting QB...much more complicated. Those teams can pursue w/o necessarily throwing a current member of the franchise under the bus.

...personally I think this is so unfair to JC and if the FO is stupid enough to blow up the offense again i hope Campbell has tremendous success wherever he lands. I'll never support Cutler here seeing how he's handled himself...ever.

Right, because you can look at it from a 3rd party perspective and say "Cutler makes more sense for every team involved than the Redskins", which is quite true. It doesn't make sense to bring him here because it doesn't change anything about our talent on offense. Jay Cutler's fantasy value dies, but that's about it.

The problem with the odds is that Snyder will simply try to beat the best offer before the market gets set. And he may end up having to release Campbell because of it, because this deal might go down before he can find anybody who will take on a QB that he is willing to throw under the bus.

It's criminal negligence, but he wont get too much crap for it because people buy the Cutler aura. Sure, like most other moves, it will look terrible come the season, but by that point, it will just look like the status quo here.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

Just say NOOOOOOOOOOO to Jay Cutler. He is overated and will cost us a future starter with the 13th pick and possibly another future starter with another pick.

The way I see it the redskins made two previous mistakes that could have gotten the to the superbowl. First Brunnel over Warner and seccond not taking Drew Breese. Taking Cutler is the way to get to the Superbowl.

You see, I always thought the way to getting into the Super Bowl was to qualify for the playoffs and then win some games there. I didn't know that it was as simple as getting Jay Cutler. Denver got soooo close though, I don't know how they are planning on getting back again without Cutler.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

It's getting really difficult to defend this team. In the past, we've been willing to sacrifice depth at critical positions by trading draft picks for players who, while perhaps looking good on paper, couldn't come in and play right guard in late November after injuries had thinned the roster. This willingness to forgo depth in order to bring in older guys, rather than merely the signing of free agents, has been the problem. This year, although many were quick to describe our free agency binge as certain to yield predictable results, I argued that coupled with a renewed focus on the draft, adding key players at positions of need was not the same old Redskins.

If this goes down, and that's a big if, this is worse than the same old Skins. Worse than Deion Sanders, worse than anything. Nothing against Cutler, who appears to be a genuine talent, but this team has needs he can't fix. Last year through 8 games, Jason Campbell was being discussed as a potential MVP candidate. When the offense line predictably fell apart with injuries, the entire execution of the offense unraveled. It appeared to be clear to even the most casual NFL fan: fix the offensive line and then you'll see what you have at QB.

In trading for Cutler, we are postponing our ability to fix and replenish the line through the draft so far into the future that you have to wonder if it can ever actually happen with this team. More importantly, we are signaling to anyone paying attention that through 12 years of bumbling front-office ineptitude, we have not learned a single thing. In bailing on the QB he drafted and groomed, I think the Skins are saying all that needs to be said about the stability that Joe Gibbs brought back here.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

This really can't happen this quickly. It just doesn't make sense from the Broncos' perspective. Why would they take any deal now instead of spending the next few weeks trying to drive up the market? We're not going to learn anything anytime soon. Let's all hope that one of these other teams overwhelms them with compensation we can't match. But who, other than El Snyder, would do that?

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

The only way I'm going to like this is if we get additional picks with Cutler. If we get their first in exchange for ours and then come away with a 2nd rounder I wouldn't mind whoever is QB. None of that will happen however because that's extremely lopsided.

My only hope is that we come away with additional picks in this year's draft. God bless Campbell for putting up with this kind of crap, professionally speaking.

Well they are idiots in the Broncos FO too, Denver could get the #1 overall pick from the Lions (among other things), they could get Brady Quinn, Shaun Rogers and a ton of picks from Cleveland, they could get a lot of picks from the Jets, etc., etc. But they are going to want to send him to the NFC, and since stupid Danny wants him, they'll trade him for less.
