And don't go off on Cutler having better recievers. 9/10 QB's make the recievers great, not the other way around.
Red Zone scoring has been a problem, but I wouldn't say the cause is Campbell not being able to pull the trigger. Cutler had 17TDs in the RZ last year, Campbell 11TDs. I would say the issue with RZ scoring prior to last year had a lot to do with playcalling. This year I would say the OL was the major issue later in the year. This and last it also has a lot to do with no big receiver on the outside to widen the defense in the RZ. The short WRs we have can't go up top in the back corner of the end-zone and force the DBs to play straight up. The opposing DBs have been able to cheat inside knowing they can adjust and stop a fade to a sub 5'10" WR. The Broncos have Marshall. Overall I would say the WR corps in Denver is NOT "leaps and bounds" better than us, but inside the RZ, a receiver like Marshall is very important.

Those 2 QB points are farther apart then you might think. Though I do get frustrated that people are trying to now pass off the O-Line as something that isn't important. "Oh Big Ben won without a good O-Line." The better argument for Cutler should be that he'll make quicker decisions and as a result our line will have more energy near the end of the game as the seconds saved pile up. Not "oh O-line isn't that important."
Agree with your point on Cutler having a quicker release and making a split-second faster decisions (not to say I think JC is bad at these things, just Cutler is a bit better), but his upside over Campbell isn't worth the package Denver is asking for.

Personally other then Danny I think the second most person exicited about this draft is Campbell. He gets out of WAS, goes to easier divison works Josh Mcdaniels and has better weapons (WRS). no wonder he is cool head he is praying this thing goes through.

Last year we played 6 division games, all against top 10 defenses. Played the Steelers and Ravens, both top 10 defenses. We also played the Bengals(12th) and the 49ers(13th). That is 10 games against the better defenses in the league, Cutler can't say he did anything close.

Yes he is a QB in the NFL. That is proven. But if you imply Cutler is the real deal like a Manning, McNabb or even Romo...no he is not.
Dude, your very screen name belies the point you're making. You don't think the Broncos' God-awful defense had anything to do with that??

You gotta be kidding me.

Synder needs to read this, especially the part on developing players and the success of the Colts, Steelers, Patriots and Giants. They are the last 4 super bowl winners.

The one quote from the article that struck me was this: "As much as I like Cutler personally, I wonder about any kid who would say his arm is stronger than John Elway's."

First, I didn't know Cutler said this. But since he has, it's just another reason to stop the trade-bus right now. Elway is an icon in Denver, whether Cutler has a stronger arm or not (I agree with Wilbon, it's not even close to Elway's) he should have enough maturity and common sense not to say something like that. At QB, mental clarity and composure are more important that arm strength (Joe Montana: smart & great under pressure/arm strength sub-par and Jeff George: cannon-arm/dumb-ass come to mind). At this point I'm not willing to give up anything or even do a straight up swap of Cutler for Campbell. We know Campbell will only progress, not regress like Cutler could if he losses his mind and can't adjust under Zorn.

Awesome article!! I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not Wilbon fan, but he nailed it on this article.

Actually I always thought Wilbon has a soft spot for the Skins, but this lunacy is making many a fan -who thought Gibbs 2's lesson were all about patience, winning from within, character counts etc - sick. At least it is making me sick.

I find it hard to argue with any of his points.

I am not sure we scored 30 point in any game last year. Most of the time we cant score more that five field goals. If Campbell was such a talent then why wont anyone give a second round pick for a franchise quarterback.
