Churchill, early 90s, played one preseason really then realized my talents were best utilized on the baseball field, basketball court, and gym (floor hockey)

Re: Tell Us About Your Playing Days

^^ i went to churchill, graduated in '96.

i was a stud hockey player and i remember after the mont co upper championship game the churchill coach (who also coached a team in my league) grabbed me as i was coming off the ice and said he likes my game and wants me to play for him. mid summer i get a call from the coach, i tell him my grades dont allow me to play. sad times man, all my buddies (who i doubled their point totals every season) were on the team.

then coach higgins saw me score a behind the back goal in lacrosse, asked why i didnt play for churchill and same response . . "grades man".

so in short, grade requirements didnt allow me to play school organized sports in high school, but i did private leagues and camps at st albans which allowed me to be a 2 year co-captain and national collegic lacrosse league starting midfielder allstar in 2000!!! yeah baby!! and i did score 4 goals against duquense to seal a revenge win in a heated rivalry!!!

sorry i know this is suposed to be about HS football but im 30 now, these are my "al bundy" glory days!! . . i also shot a 78 in golf, so watch out.

man i wish i was young enough to play organized sports again. at least i got pick up ball in the city and teh strippers (not stripers) are running hard.

go skins!!

wait, is their a difference in how you spell strippers (rockfish) vs strippers (lady kind)?

Re: Tell Us About Your Playing Days

i was/am a long distance runner. When i was 16, i ran a 4:32 mile. When i was 19, i could run a 5k(3.1 miles) in just under 17 minutes. I played baseball other than that, and constantly broke bones. i broke my nose, hand, wrist, and thumb playing. My nose had to have plastic surgery to fix(15 pieces of bone).

Jimmy Kemp. He was a bit before my time. My generation was the Dhani Jones years.

Re: Tell Us About Your Playing Days

Went to high school in Lexington. Played little league football until freshman year of high school where we fielded a team of 14 players. Obviously, most players went both ways (har har) until two people in our fourth game of the season broke their collar bones. On the way to that fourth game, I was working on my fourth straight 20+ tackle game. I played nose tackle and tight end and never was the strongest kid, just very quick off the ball.

They moved the rest of the freshman team up to JV where we all basically sat the bench the rest of the season since the JV team had their starters already. 10th grade, I was moved to OG, since the other tight end was this giant guy who couldn't catch or run fast (yes, I'm still bitter) but was just big. 11th grade, I started at OG every game and 12th grade I missed all the offseason workouts because I met my girlfriend who is now my wife and decided against it.

Sure, I sat the bench that year, but who am I married to now bitches? Well, I guess you could consider me married to football too.

Re: Tell Us About Your Playing Days

I actually think I got to scrimage against Randy Thomas's high school alma-matter during my junior year in 2001. East Point Tri-Cities.
