Hell even if JC is playing well people will want to talk about what the long term plans are for Sanchez. Until he gets on the field, it will be a major talking point.

Nobody loves a QB controversy quite like DC and we'll have yet another epic one on our hands. I just don't like it.
I think we're going to fool everyone and actually trade down for Josh Freeman...just kidding.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of drafting Sanchez unless it's coupled with a trade of Campbell and we just say "Ok Mark, you're the man now dog" And then we just have a Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn thing with Sanchez and Brennan.

It's a long shot, but what if somehow we're able to get Sanchez and use other picks (and maybe players) to move up a bit and still fill some other needs with quality draftees? How would you feel then?
With our next picks coming in the 3rd and the 5th you won't be moving up much on that alone; what position do we find ourselves deep enough at to be able to use a backup/pick on and ship away a player for a good pick? I mean we've got some potential in some young guys but not very many studs, on top of that we overvalue some of our guys (wouldn't get much for ARE, not just picks, but probably interest either, especially at his salary). Kind of a shitty way to look at it but I'm just not sure who we could use as any decent trade bait without shipping off 2-3 players for a single decent pick. Maybe we'd have something a little more "certain" in a later round, but I don't know that the risk would be worth it.

Yeah I guess if it's going to happen, might as well go all the way and just get rid of JC now and plug in Sanchez right away. That would at least take care of any QB controversy and the team could move forward right away.

Seems like it would be the logical thing to do; of course we wouldn't get much for Campbell nor give him the chance to raise his stock in this coming year. But if we keep Campbell and did draft Sanchez, Campbell does very well, you're looking at getting rid of one of them in the not so distant future. Way too much money tied up into a single position otherwise.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?

Peter King is saying that point wise (I know that doesn't mean a whole lot) we'd have to give our 1st, 3rd & 5th, plus next years 1st to trade up to number 3?

That's frickin terrible. If we do that, it's gonna be awfully hard to watch the draft for me. If we were to trade up, we have to find a way to do it without using all of our picks.

Are we doing this knowing we could get a 2nd (unlikely) or 3rd for Campbell to another team?

So we'd nbasically have a 2nd rounder, and what's our other pic, 7th round? We'd have a 1,2 & 7. No way we are gonna fill all of our needs with that.

I keep telling myself that this is a smoke screen, but the more I hear what's being discussed with Snyder being smitten, and us trading up, it make me wanna hurl.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?

Reading between the lines, i think its probable that Snyder wont package our 2010 first rounder in any trade because he knows Cowher, Shanahan, Holmgreen, or Gruden will want that pick... ugh.

Yay! A 1st, 3rd, and future 2nd is way better! Yay! This isn't representative of a complete lack of perspective on the deficiencies of this franchise at all. The Skins aren't old or lacking depth, they are just missing a rookie QB with 16 career college starts and who lacks arm strength. Yay!

Keep in mind we've reportedly been "smitten" with draft picks out of our range in the past.

Snyder: Redskins Are on Right Track - washingtonpost.com

Quote:
Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson is considered by many teams to be the best player available in the draft, and the Redskins are smitten with him as well, sources said, mulling over options to trade up to get him (the team has shopped cornerback Shawn Springs to Detroit, which has the second overall pick, again in recent weeks). Completing such a trade would be difficult -- perhaps impossible -- without including next year's first-round pick. That, according to Snyder, means that it is imperative that the team identify the best possible candidate for the sixth pick. Snyder has watched Johnson and others work out, and meets with most top prospects.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?

I don't think it's a smokescreen anymore, the question is how high of a price is Snyder willing to pay?

Cowherd was ripping the Skins on the radio this morning about how Campbell has been lied to over and over and how his self steem must be after all the lying the FO has done.

I hope you're wrong, but if not, hopefully there's another team (ala the Bears) that will save us from DS's stupidity and put together a better deal to grab Sanchez.

I'm with SC Skins....WTF is DS so enamored with a one year wonder (at USC no less) with sub-par arm strength ?????

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?

Yeah, I thought originally it was a smokecreen when there was a possibility Sanchez would be there at 13, so we could trade down. But no this trade up talk has me jumpy. I originally wanted to trade down to late 1st round and get a 2nd rounder, but now I'll be happy to stay at 13. I just don;t know enough about this Sanchez kid. He looks good on film, but the inexperience will be his undoing.

The second DeMarcus Ware blasts through our rickety O-Line and blasts him, he's gonna wish he stayed at USC.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?

How come we never hear about Dan Rooney or Bob Kraft "smitten" with draft picks? Maybe because they know how to run a professional outfit?

I expect the Skins to somehow end up with Sanchez. We'll dump picks this year and next to get him. And we'll probably part with JC for like a 4th round pick...

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?

Rumor has it that if Sanchez is available when the Seahawks are up, that they will draft him.

The fool Snyder doesn't realize, or has somehow forgotten in a matter of months, that no great coach respects him or his franchise (Gibbs is another matter).
