Re: I think this might be our answer for OLB...
My bad...34 year old LBs always perform like monsters. Come on man...didn't we just let Washington go cause of his age? Yet we want Ellis who is not really used as an OLB?
I have looked at his stats...25 solo tackles don't impress me. 8 sacks does if he's used as a pass rusher, but take away 2 games (1st eagles game, and 2nd giants game) and he had 3.5 sacks over 14 games. Not this this stat is an indictor of talent level, but he had 0 FF, only the second time in his career that happened. Trust me, 8 sacks, and only 25 solo tackles at the ripe age of 34 is NOT what this team needs...he would come here and do worse anyway because of our schemes. So if he did 25 tackles and 3 sacks, would you still be OK with him?

Greg Ellis is still a good player who can make plays. I would agree that we shouldnt trade for him though because his possible years left arent worth a draft pick unless its a really low one. He still can make plays though and 20.5 sacks the last 2 years is impressive. Hes always been one of the Cowboys I actually liked. |
