People keep talking about the Tuna having signed a player at 12:01 or something like that last yr. Wouldn't that make the fastest signing? Not including a players who were cut.

Probably, last year Parcells signed like 5 guys in under 3 hrs. Jansen getting released and then signed by the Lions, all took under an hour I'm guessing.

Justin Smiley was signed by Parcells at 12:20am. This makes any other situation, such as the Haynesworth deal, laughable when it is called tampering.

For real. It's gotta be well know that tampering in these cases is pretty widespread. How can anyone actually come to terms on multi-year (and often complex) contracts in minutes if there wasn't prior discussion?

Tampering. Wouldn't they have to know he was getting cut to even start to begin talks with him or they just got lucky and picked the right guy to tamper with. I'd say its a better chance that the skins maybe tried to trade Jansen first and the Lions knew there was a good chance he was getting dumped.
