Or rather, he is adequate enough to lead a team with solid offensive pieces and a heck of a defense deep into the playoffs where anything can happen.

Off the top of my head:

Manning
Brady
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Warner
McNabb
Palmer
Brees
JC

And those are just the ones I'd DEFINITELY take. I'd probably take Ryan, Hasselbeck, Cutler and maybe another few others too.
You can say what you want about him prior to the last 6 or so game leading them to the SB but in that stretch he was a key to their winning. Heck the one play in the SB when he had guys hanging off him and some how got away and then threw that ball to get the first down was what kept winning drive alive. You can also point to about another 12 QB's that could not beat the Pats that year but he found a way to win. Is he worth that contract? Only time will tell.

Of those 12 how many of those QB's defenses held the pats to 14 pts? Eli got the payday but we all know the defense won the SB. Pats score their usual 30+ and they are in 'Perfectville' with the 72 Phins.

Eli gets a lot of credit for the SB (hence this big ass contract) but you're right, it was the Giants D that made it possible and NYG getting a few breaks (Darth Hoody not going for a field goal late in the game or Eli barely avoiding getting sacked in the Tyree miracle catch).
