Alright here goes. If you want them to remember your name correctly Ladell why don't you stop impressing the coaches in the pre-season. I know I know I know you fooled Vinny or Spurrier when they drafted you about two rounds ahead of any nfl team and then it was Al Saunders who just loved you ever since he saw you in high school and now it's the current coaching staff, but if you want them to remember your name maybe you could do something cool.

Like play awesome.

campbell needs more snaps, brady and mcnabb both got more than he did.... and they both took a few shots down the field... 1st preseason game or not, play calling bothered me again from highlights and what im hearing... i was at the eagles game, thier offense looked alot better than ours. w/out westbrook

Sure. this is preseason and we're getting everything together. BUT -- this is preseason for the Ravens as well. And they kicked our ass. To be shut out and allow over 500 yards means we sucked from starters right down to the scrubs. Their depth is clearly much better than ours.

I'm worried about the defensive effort, but somehow I think we'll work it out. Put Haynesworth and Rogers in there, maybe things get a little better. I sure hope so.

What I'm NOT hopeful about is our offense. Getting excited about Kelly and 25 yards is hard to swallow. The O-line is good news, but I'm not as concerned about how good they are -- more about whether they'll stay healthy. Good to hear about BMW, Rhineheart, and backup center who I hear did okay.

After all this -- what can we do to make the offense better? Is it just that Zorn sucks at play-calling? Is it JC? Sure it's preseason - but our offense has sucked for years and looks about the same (if not worse). I think this is clearly a bad sign.

Depth is our Achilles heel. We really needed to upgrade the oline and didn't. If we lose a couple starters there before say week 5, we might be in for a long season.

Given the other teams we play this pre-season, we may continue to look very bad.

Hopefully it will wake folks up.

Well let us see how the next preseason game goes, if the effort is another doozy of an egg, then I think all of us might have to reevaluate our thoughts of this season. When I got the Sporting News preseason rag and they pegged us at 4-12 I had to laugh, but now the 8-8 the rest of the mags had us at looks too good. Still let's see how the next game or two plays out. If we still suck after preseason game 3 then we are indeed in trouble.

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

What I saw:

Two bad passes from Soup. Joey T said he was impressed?

The first team O-line held up. Surprise!

The first team D held up alright. Doughty seemed like he was all over the map when he was in there. He and the CB got burned on the TD. I put that on the CB. He got beat.

Why is Blache giving the receivers so much room?

Orakpo and Jarmon seem like starters if you ask me. Let Wynn go for a roster spot.

Rinehart held his own. Good!

We'll be seeing a lot more from Hunter the Punter. He is the best signing of the off season.

The third string D got burned up.

No sustained drives? No points even in preseason is suspect IMO.

Pineapple Jesus looked like a chicken with his head cut off.

I will say this again, I don't care if the defense is awesome, you can't leave them on the field for over three quarters of a game and expect a win.

Z looked PISSED!

Tryon should be cut if he keeps getting burned like that.

There's no way that Colt should upseat Collins. Collins looked better than Soup IMO.

Did I leave anything out? Oh yeah, that really stank, preseason or not.

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

Not to be even more a downer, but even the QB pressure we got wasn't that special. The starting LT and G for the Ravens were both out. The Ravens O-line isn't all that special to begin with anyway. Last year they had Willie Anderson, who was like 40, starting last year.

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

It is preseason, and lots of key players sitting this one out. But ya still gotta show up.........damn!

The good first.....

1)Orakpo was impressive, really excited about the future.
2)Thomas/Kelly/Davis(outside the fumbles) all looked like they can help if they can get the ball.
3)Jarmon looks like he might end up being a steal.

The bad............

1)Zorn....why not challenge the long pass that was clearly out of bounds? Are there no challenges in preseason or something?
2)The Oline scares me....the last play for Campbell was pathetic. Didnt help that both Rabach and Rhinehart didnt block anyone on that play, and left Cooley & Betts on their own.
3)Did we really spend a 3rd round pick on Kevin Barnes? Hopefully this guy doesnt make it on the field this year!
4)I felt like Colt looked pretty bad. He didnt have alot of time, but when he did he was indecisive, or made bad decisions with the ball.

And lastly....maybe Im just "old school" but the jerseys hanging out of the pants really annoys me. My coach always told us "until the shirt is tucked in, your not ready to play". It just looks sloppy and unprofessional, hopefully they clean it up!!!

Hail to the Redskins!!! No where to go but up baby!!!

I think I figured this out. They want to get Landry in the box (that is why they drafted him) so who better to play center field?

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

Someone needs to help me out with this. What did Betts do to get the backlash tonight? He didn't drop two first down passes like Hagans.

Did you expect a touchdown on those plays where 2 Ravens are in the backfield when he gets the handoff?

At least I can put to bed the he is better than Portis argument.... I remember several heated exchanges over that one.
