The Dallas Cowboys are Awful

Oakland was probably taking the game a lot more serious than Dallas was. I think Dallas is going to win somewhere around 8-10 games. They can still rush the passer as good as anyone in the NFL and Romo is still a pretty good QB. They're going to need some of their young wr's to step up. Their biggest problem is their secondary.

Judging only by Wade, it's obvious he wanted to go out there and make a statement early. He was hot from the first play.

Romo did throw a touchdown in this one, to Witten against a questionable defensive call, but you touched on this: Romo has never, ever been the problem when this team. The times he's broken down, it's been because he's fallen victim to teamwide collapses. The passing game looked way slower than I remember it, and though they certainly have weapons, their offensive line is way worse than ours is right now.

Not to mention that their defense is a bad joke. I don't know exactly how much of this is an improved Raider squad, but it's the offseason moves that they've been credited for: removing Owens, signing Sensabaugh, and trading Henry for Jon Kitna, that were the most obviously terrible area's on the team.

The Dallas offensive line is older and more injury prone than ours. Although TO is a nightmare to deal with, when they let him go they downgraded at WR. The secondary is a mess and the DL is nothing to write home about outside of Ratliff.

I think the Cowboys will win 6-8 games this year, fire Wade, and hire Shanahan.

I believe Lotus has been saying this for a couple of months now. Apparently he knew what he was talking about. Isn't Wade running the defense now? Was there any contribution from Roy Williams GTripp or did he play? Do they just look out of sync or what?

He got targeted three times. Twice, Nnamdi Asomugha was blanketing him and he didn't get close to the pass. Then on the next drive, after the Raiders defense pulled their ones (Dallas' first offense scored against the Raiders two's), he caught a well-thrown 15 yard out route from Romo in decent coverage on third down.

I didn't look at the post game numbers, but I think that was his only catch.

Passing game looks slow and methodical. Romo still moves very well in the pocket despite having less time, but unlike with T.O. it doesn't seem like he's as confident that there will be somewhere to throw the ball if he buys enough time.

True, but Wade Phillips has already been thrown under the bus by JJ when he (JJ) gave Garrett a lot of $$ to stay as offensive coordinator. Even if the Cowboys go 1 and done in the playoffs, Wade Phillips will not return.

Yep that sounds about right, possible 9 wins. Not having the body-catcher on the team is a downgrade because although Roy Williams has shown flashes of him being good he is not on the same level as TO. Cory Procter must go he is terrible. DL-DE needs depth bad.

By the way the skins played I guess the Ravens must be stacked with defensive talent.

Anyway, I'm not super upset about our backups getting beat by their backups. Our depth apparently isn't as good. Nothing ever tells the real story of preseason. Who knows what plays were trying to be run or what player was specifically being looked at?
