Yodder made a statement last night but I would still cut him and put Agnone on practice squad.

I know people want to crusify Alridge for his fumble but I can't. If you look at it he caught the ball and decided to run left. As he was moving the ball from his right side to his left side away from the tackler his elbow or arm got hit with the helmet or shoulder pads of the tackler causing the ball to pop out. Yes he should have just tucked it and held on with both hands but he was actually doing what he was trained to do which is move the ball away from the tackler and take the hit. It was just bad timing.
"Bad timing" can lose you games. No excuses.

Agreed. Plus, there is the real question whether he should have brought it out at all.

Yeah he probably shouldn't have. I'm not making excuses for these guys but I'm sure they know they only have a limited amount of plays to make the team so they sometimes make bad decisions by trying to showcase their skills (Colt). I'm not sure they understand that sometimes they're hurting themselves by not making the smart, safe play.

Exactly. I mean last game to showcase and they are nervous about making a mistake which in reality increases the chance to make those mistakes.

Well the thing is they also have weeks of practices and scrimmages to show their skills as well. And Alridge was fumbling then as well. I mean it's not just Chase's game performances that have him in good position to take the #3 spot. It's also the fact that he practiced well, took what the coaches were saying to him, processed it and improved as the summer went on.

I agree. Maybe I'm just getting soft because I'm feeling good about this team.

I pay more attention to "character" now, maybe it's Joe Gibbs second coming or simply maturity, but I pay attention to how these guys interview, since I'm not around them personally.

Just like political candidates, players come across differently in interviews & can give you a sharp, however hasty, opinion of them. Watching colt & daniel in back to back interviews left me liking Daniel a lot more. Colt spoke decently, but sounds more fraternity boy than pro qb. Daniel is more reserved & humble, but sounds more professional & aware of his rookie status.

I got a good impression of him & as a qb he seems like a poor man's flutie, a dude that lacks height but isn't concerned w/stats & style points, just does what he needs to win. Colt on the other hand, kinda has me torn. He shows potential & athleticism, but seems immature both as a player & person. A little bit self absorbed for an nfl qb. I think keeping Colt makes more sense, but at the same time I fear he may not have Daniel's staying power. Daniel seems like a guy that will do whatever it takes to make a team & eventually start.

I agree with both of you. He should have just let the ball bounce into the endzone, but we don't know what the coach's may or may not have told him to do. Can't fault a guy if told no matter what catch it and run it. I say this cause they may have said that to see what he could do.

It was bad no doubt. Thankfully it doesn't count against our season. Now the coach's know that he's not 100% reliable although he showed well in a previous game so who knows. He looked good on the pass from Chase in the 4th quarter in the 2min drill. Changed directions and still out ran two defenders to pick up 20-30 yrds.

These are young men trying hard to impress and win a spot on the roster. Sometime in the process of doing so they lose focus and mistakes follow.

Alridges' fumble last night was no less painful than watching your starting QB fumble three consecutive times in the same game. (reg. season) It can happen to anyone.

If you lose focus in the preseason trying to impress the coaches, what will you do in the regular season when you're trying to impress other teams enough to get a free agent deal?

Again, no excuses please. Because there are none.
